CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

¯ RIPLEY — Brenda L Gibbons, 50, no address listed, was charged with driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident. Deputies received a report of a crash at 9:07 p.m. Sunday on Shortman Road in the town of Ripley. It was reported that one of the vehicles involved in the accident, a blue pickup truck, was fleeing the scene and was headed southbound toward Route 20. Deputies spotted the vehicle, and an investigation later found that the operator was driving while intoxicated. Gibbons was transported to Westfield Police Department for processing and later released.

¯ CARROLL — Brandi M. Hallenbeck, 46, of Falconer, was charged with driving while intoxicated, DWI per se, no inadequate lights, no/insufficient tail lamps. Deputies stopped a vehicle at 9:42 p.m. Aug. 14 for multiple violations. An investigation found that Hallenbeck was allegedly operating the vehicle while intoxicated. She was processed and released with tickets to appear later in Carroll Town Court.

¯ ARKWRIGHT — Jeffrey D. Kozlowski Jr., 33, of Cassadaga, was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Deputies conducted a warrant check Monday for Kozlowski at an address in the town of Arkwright. Kozlowski was located at the residence and was allegedly found in possession of a controlled substance and a gun that he was prohibited from possessing. He was taken into custody.

¯ SHERMAN — A North East, Pa., woman has been charged with mistreatment of two dogs.

At approximately 6:04 p.m. Aug. 19, Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies responded to an animal complaint on Park Street. Upon arrival, deputies located two dogs that were placed inside of a cage without proper sustenance.

For the well being of the dogs, they were seized by a local animal control officer and brought to the humane society for proper care. After an investigation, it was found the Cassandra L. Casler, 35, had placed the dogs in the cage without proper sustenance. On Wednesday, Casler was issued an appearance ticket for the charge of overdriving, torturing, or injuring animals. Casler will be in the town of Sherman Court at a later date to answer to the charges.

WESTFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT

¯ Jennifer Stow, 41, of Westfield, was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operator, operating with no front/rear bumper and failure to stop at a stop light. Officers observed a vehicle failing to stop at a stop sign at 10:29 p.m. Sunday on North Portage Street at Main Street. The same vehicle was reportedly traveling without a rear bumper. An investigation found that Stow’s driving privileges had been suspended. Stow is scheduled to be in Westfield Village Court later.
