Woman involved in Pomfret crash dies

A 93-year-old Fredonia woman involved in a two-car accident last week on Van Buren near Farel Road has succumbed to injuries sustained in the incident.

Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies report Elizabeth Abram of Berry Road died on Friday. Abram had been transported to Erie County Medical Center Hospital in Buffalo by Stat Medivac. Another woman involved in the mishap was not injured in the Wednesday crash.

¯ PORTLAND — An altercation early Sunday has led to the arrest of a Brocton man.

Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies responded to an address in the town around 12:15 a.m. An investigation into the incident found that Christopher R. Peterson, 32, did strike another individual. The alleged incident occurred in the presence of a child less than 17 years old. Peterson was taken into custody for endangering the welfare of a child and second-degree harassment.

Peterson was processed and transported to the Chautauqua County Jail for centralized arraignment.

¯ SHERMAN — Around 1:36 a.m. Thursday, deputies responded to the scene of a single vehicle motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival deputies located the male operator Andrew D. Dunnewold, 29, of Sherman.

Dunnewold was the sole occupant of the vehicle and found to be uninjured from the collision. Through investigation it was determined Dunnewold was operating the vehicle while intoxicated. Dunnewold was charged with DWI and taken from the scene to Westfield Memorial Hospital for precautionary evaluation.

Dunnewold will answer the charges of DWI, moving from lane unsafely, speed not reasonable or prudent, and failure to keep right at a later date.

¯ At 8 p.m. Saturday, sheriff’s deputies, assisted by Dunkirk and New York State Police, conducted a warrant check at a location on Lake Shore Drive West in the city of Dunkirk. Jennifer A. Darbee, 46, of Dunkirk was located at the site.

Darbee had active warrants of arrest for second-degre burglary and second-degree criminal contempt out of the town of Hanover. Darbee was taken into custody without incident, and was transported to Chautauqua County Jail for arraignment.
