¯ MAYVILLE — Devon Smith, 19, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and first-degree promoting prison contraband. Corrections officers located a small amount of heroin allegedly concealed in a pair of jail issued socks. An investigation found that Smith was the person who allegedly placed the heroin in the socks. Smith was in the jail on unrelated charges. He is scheduled to be arraigned at a later date.

¯ MAYVILLE — Blake D. Smith, 46, was charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and first-degree promoting prison contraband. The Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force investigated the discovery of a suspicious substance located by correctional officers at the jail. The substance was later confirmed to be heroin. Video showed Smith passing the heroin to another inmate at the jail. Smith was already in jail on unrelated charges. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Chautauqua Town Court later.

¯ MAYVILLE — Dwayne M. Posey, 46, was charged with first-degree promoting prison contraband and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Corrections officers on Dec. 29 encountered an incoherent inmate inside a jail cell. Small pieces of paper found burning in the cell were later found to have the presence of morphine. Posey is scheduled to be arraigned in court at a later date.

¯ MAYVILLE — Elizabeth J. Seice, 34, of Falconer, was charged with first-degree promoting prison contraband and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. A small quantity of suspected methamphetamine was found when Seice was being secured into the jail on Jan. 16. An investigation found that Seice was allegedly in possession while being booked. She is scheduled to be arraigned later.
