Woman strikes female with vehicle, machete charged

A 64-year-old Gerry woman is facing charges after striking a female with a vehicle and then later striking that same individual with the flat side of a machete after exiting the vehicle.

State Police in Jamestown report Mary Butler has been charged with second-degree assault, second-degree menacing, second-degree reckless endangerment and four counts of endangering the welfare of a child after the Thursday incident.

Troopers responded to a residence in Gerry for a report of a subject who had been struck by a vehicle. An investigation revealed that while driving with four minors on County Route 380 in Jamestown, Butler swerved at and struck a female subject who was on the side of the road. She then exited the vehicle and struck the victim several times with the flat side of a machete.

Butler fled the scene while the victim was treated at UPMC Chautauqua for non-life threatening injuries. Butler was later located at her residence, placed under arrest and transported to the Jamestown barracks. She was then transported to the Chautauqua County Jail.

NEW YORK STATE POLICE

— STOW — An Indiana man is facing a number of drug charges after being stopped on Interstate 86 Thursday.

Troopers out of Jamestown charged Brandon White, 36, of Pekin, Ind., with second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia and two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

White was pulled over Thursday for speeding. During the traffic stop, White was found to be in possession of Oxycodone pills, several packages of methamphetamine and a digital scale containing drug residue.

White was placed transported to Jamestown and processed. He was issued appearance tickets and traffic tickets and is scheduled to appear in the town of North Harmony Court on a later date.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF

— STOCKTON — At about 1:32 a.m. Saturday, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motor vehicle accident on Ellery-Centralia Road. The operator of the vehicle was identified as 19-year-old David J. Hahn of Fredonia. Further investigation found Hahn to be driving while intoxicated. Hahn was charged with DWI, DWI per se, and operating a vehicle while using portable electronic device. He was later released and will be in the town of Stockton Court later.

— Deputies responded to an address on Northeast Sherman Road around 12:34 a.m. Saturday. An investigation into the incident found that William L. Leamer, 58, of North East, Pa., did intentionally cause physical injury to another person, intentionally damaged property of another person, and physically prevented that same individual from calling 911.

The victim on scene stated that Leamer fled the residence on foot.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office K9 Link was deployed on a human odor track from the residence. K9 Link did track and locate Leamer hiding in tall grass in a field, several hundred yards from the residence. Leamer was taken into custody and charged with third-degree assault, two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief and resisting arrest, He was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail for centralized arraignment.
