DUNKIRK FIRE DEPARTMENT

¯ A kitchen fire has damaged a home in the city. On Wednesday, the department was dispatched to 58 Ruggles St. at 4:40 p.m. for a report of a stove fire. Upon arrival residents of the home reported a fire on the stove spread to the kitchen.

Firefighters made entry and found the minor blaze spread in the kitchen. All fire was extinguished quickly. Light smoke was ventilated from the entire home. There were no injuries.

The Red Cross is assisting three adults. The cause of the fire was accidental due to a cooking fire.

ELLICOTTVILLE TOWN POLICE

¯ ELLICOTTVILLE — A 29-year-old Little Valley man who entered a village establishment with a loaded assault rifle last week is facing a number of charges.

Town of Ellicottville Police say Aaron J. Leo of 112 Seventh St., was also found to be in possession of two high-capacity ammunition feeding devices during the incident on March 3. He was charged with third-degree criminal possession of an assault weapon and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon for having the ammunition devices capable of holding more than 10 rounds.

During a felony hearing on March 7, he was released under supervision by the Cattaraugus County district attorney’s office. He is to be back in court at a later date.
