JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT
— A wandering 2-year-old child in a street on Jamestown’s southside led to charges for a pair of city residents.
At around 3:45 p.m. Friday, Jamestown police responded to a call after the toddler was seen in the middle of a busy street. Dispatch did not receive any calls in regard to a missing child and no guardians were around.
After almost 20 minutes, officers who were walking the neighborhood located a guardian, Noel Luciano, 42, frantically yelling inside her residence.
Luciano failed to call police for emergency assistance with locating the lost child, who was in her care. Through further investigation it was found that child was being watched by Thomas Badgley, 52, when the child went missing.
Badgley and Luciano were charged with endangering the welfare of a child. Luciano was also found to have a warrant out of another state and was additionally charged with fugitive from justice. Both were transported to the city jail, where they were being held pending arraignment.
— A Jamestown man is facing charges after striking a parked car early Saturday.
Just after 2 a.m., Jamestown police were patrolling Crescent Street when a vehicle was observed operating without any lights illuminated. The vehicle was stopped and Douglas J. Smith, 69, was identified as the driver.
It was determined that Smith just struck a parked car approximately a 100 yards away and was leaving the scene. Smith was charged with leaving the scene of a property damage accident and other vehicle and traffic offenses. Smith was released and will be in city court later. No injuries resulted from this incident, and the owner of the parked vehicle was notified by Jamestown Police.
CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT
— HARMONY — A Celoron man was charged after a striking an individual with a vehicle Friday evening.
At 6 p.m., deputies responded to an address on Waltonian Road. Through further investigation, it was found that Nicholas L. Reeves, 33, did intentionally strike another individual with a motor vehicle. Reeves was subsequently charged with second-degree reckless endangerment. He is to be in town court at a later date.
