JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT
- A 31-year-old city resident was charged in a hate crime early Christmas Eve.
Kody M Johnson, 31, was charged with third-degree assault after officers responded to a southside address for a report of a fight.
Upon arrival, officers located a victim who had been punched in the face. Through an investigation it was determined that Johnson had punched the victim in the face and had used racial slurs during the course of action. He was transported to the Jamestown City Jail where he was held pending arraignment.
- A Christmas Eve burglary at 33 Barrett Ave. has led to charges for a city resident.
Jeremy D Lyons, 29, was charged with third-degree criminal trespass and fourth-degree criminal mischief. At around 11:40 a.m., officers located a broken out rear window at the residence. After several announcements were made, Lyons surrendered to officers at the rear window.
Lyons was removed from the residence, placed into custody, and transported to the Jamestown City Jail without incident.
Lyons also had outstanding warrants through the Lakewood-Busti Police Department. He was held pending arraignment.
- Bruce J. Miles, 35, was charged with second-degree harassment, resisting arrest, fourth-degree criminal mischief and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
At 3:51 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to the north side of the city for a domestic dispute in progress. Upon arrival officers located the female victim and Miles outside in front of the residence. The female stated she was grabbed by the back of her head and thrown down the stairs and outside. Miles was advised he was under arrest and proceeded to resist arrest. After a brief struggle with officers the suspect was taken into custody.
While attempting to place Miles into the patrol vehicle he resisted officers for an extended period of time and caused damage to a patrol vehicle. Miles was transported to the city jail. Officers searched Miles and located 1.1 grams of methamphetamine in his possession. Miles was held in the city jail pending arraignment.
- Jacob C. Sandy, 25, was charged with second-degree criminal impersonation on Friday. At 1:40 a.m., officers stopped to check a male riding a bicycle in the middle of the road with no visible lights. During the investigation it was determined Sandy used his brother’s name to attempt to keep officers from knowing his actual identity. He was transported to Jamestown City Jail pending arraignment.
- Angel L. Rondon Gonzalez, 20, was charged with third- and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree grand larceny, third-degree criminal possession of stolen property and third-degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
At about 12:54 p.m. Thursday, officers performed a traffic stop in the area of West Eighth and Monroe streets, as they had knowledge that the vehicle registration was suspended.
While on the stop, Rondon Gonzalez, who was a passenger in the vehicle took possession of the vehicle without permission from the driver or owner.
Officers attempted to secure Rondon Gonzalez before he could drive away from the traffic stop. Rondon Gonzalez started to drive away with officers in the vehicle.
Officers were able to safely exit the vehicle and pursued the vehicle to West Eighth Street and Murray Avenue where Rondon Gonzalez exited the vehicle leading officers on a brief foot pursuit. Officers recovered a loaded semi automatic pistol and a fanny pack containing a quantity of cocaine and cash that were suspected to be discarded by Rondon Gonzalez while pursuing him. He was nabbed and sent to city jail.
- Shamori L. Houston, 43, was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.
At approximately 1:30 a.m. Saturday, officers observed a vehicle traveling southbound on Winsor Street near Harrison Street with a fictitious license plate.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicle however the occupants attempted to flee on foot prior to officers catching up to the vehicle. Officers located the owner of the vehicle in close proximity and reviewed surveillance footage from a nearby business which confirmed that Houston was operating the vehicle at the time of the stop.
Houston was taken into custody as the license plate on the vehicle consisted of a digital picture of a license plate which had been printed and wrapped around a piece of cardboard.
Officers had previously arrested Houston on Oct. 13 for the same offense. Houston was held pending arraignment in the Jamestown City Jail.
