Six charged in robbery, drug incident

JAMESTOWN — Six individuals, including one from Buffalo, have been charged in connection with an incident that took place on Wednesday in the city that included a robbery, an assault and unlawful imprisonment.

At 7:53 a.m., officers responded to a residence at 326 Stowe St. for a well being complaint. Prior to arrival officers were advised that a male victim had been robbed and assaulted and was being held inside of a residence against his will.

Officers responded to the residence and upon arrival and after several minutes, the male victim exited the residence with two other male subjects. The male victim appeared to have been assaulted as he had several facial injuries that required EMS.

EMS was called to the scene and the victim was transported to UPMC Chautauqua for treatment.

Officers were able to determine that one of the two males who exited the residence with the victim was one of the subjects that robbed and assaulted him. The male was identified as Benjamin J. Preston, 41, of Jamestown. He was placed into custody and transported to the Jamestown City Jail without incident.

Officers were also made aware there were other subjects inside of the residence who were involved in the incident. Several announcements were made to the occupants to exit the residence.

A perimeter was held on the residence and a search warrant was ultimately executed by the Jamestown SWAT Team.

Officers located Dwayne A Lowery, 29, of Buffalo and Jamestown residents Anthony J Wallace, 31, Scott A Eddy, 24, Ramsey J Huddleston, 44, and Jhaszmine M Mitchell, 21, inside, along with another female victim. All subjects were placed into custody and transported to the Jamestown City Jail without incident.

The investigation deemed that Lowery, who had outstanding warrants for the Jamestown Police Department, and Preston, both assaulted the male victim while stealing his cell phone, wallet, and failed to allow him to leave the residence. Lowery also failed to allow a female victim to leave the residence when officers arrived on scene and gave commands for the occupants to exit.

Wallace was later found to be in possession of the male victim’s credit card and 4.2 grams of Methamphetamine.

Mitchell was later found to be in possession of 1.3 grams of Fentanyl and 1 gram of Cocaine along with having outstanding warrants through the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department. Eddy and Huddleston were both charged with second-degree obstructing governmental administration. Mitchell was charged with two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Wallace was charged with one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance and Criminal possession of stolen property.

Preston was charged with robbery, assault, and unlawful imprisonment. Lowery was charged with robbery, assault, and two counts of unlawful imprisonment. Huddleston was released with an appearance ticket, Mitchell was released with an appearance ticket and turned over to the sheriff’s office, and all other subjects were held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court.
