JAMESTOWN MAN SENTENCED FOR DRUG POSSESSION

Todd Dalton, 39, of Jamestown, was sentenced Monday by Judge David Foley to four years in state prison with two years of post-release supervision after being convicted of fourth-degree attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony. In March 2023, the Jamestown Police Department conducted a traffic stop and located suspected methamphetamine on Dalton. He pleaded guilty to the charge in January.

Additionally, Dalton was on felony probation for charges out of Cattaraugus County for a conviction of third-degree attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class C felony in August 2022. Dalton violated the terms of his probation after being arrested, he admitted the violation of probation and was sentenced to a term of four years in state prison to be served concurrently.

Dalton was sentenced as a non-violent predicate felon due to having more than one conviction in 10 years. District Attorney Jason Schmidt would like to “thank the Jamestown Police Department for their hard work on this case.”

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

WESTFIELD — Deputies responded to an accident on Plank Road around 9:30 a.m. Monday. Upon arrival, deputies located Samuel J. Cettell, 44, of Westfield at the scene.

After an investigation it was found that Cettell was operating the vehicle in an intoxicated state. Cettell was taken into custody and charged with DWI Per Se, misdemeanor DWI, and failure to keep right. Cettell was issued tickets and will return to court later.

CATTARAUGUS COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

GOWANDA — Bret M. Smith, 33, of South Dayton, on Feb. 29, was taken into custody by the Erie County Sheriff’s Department on an unrelated incident. After investigation, it was revealed that Smith had two active warrants by the Village of South Dayton Court. Deputies transported Smith to Persia Town COurt for arraignment, and he was released on his own recognizance. Smith will appear in village court later.

COLD SPRING — Troy W. Bray, 50 of Cold Spring was taken into custody on March 1 after a warrant execution on Sunfish Run Road. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that Bray had an active warrant out of Cattaraugus County Court. Deputies transported Bray to county jail.
