JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

– Joseph B. Trippe, 23, of Jamestown was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief and petty larceny following an incident which Monday morning. Officers were called to the Jamestown Cycle Shop regarding the prior theft of a bicycle at or around 7:02 a.m. Officers reviewed store video footage and identified Trippe as the person on camera, allegedly cutting the lock off the bike then stealing it. Trippe was located later during the day and advised officers where the stolen bike was. He was then transported to the city jail and held pending arraignment. The stolen bike was returned to the owner.

– Jose Correa, 22, of Jamestown was arrested and charged with third-degree menacing, second-degree aggravated harassment and resisting arrest following an incident which took place Sunday morning. Officers responded to East Fifth Street and Prendergast Avenue for a suspicious person at 10:45 a.m. allegedly yelling at an apartment building. Officers report that they identified Correa as having an outstanding/active warrant for his arrest with the Jamestown Police Department and the Cheektowaga Town Police Department. As officers attempted to take Correa into custody he allegedly attempted to flee on his skateboard. After a brief struggle with officers, he was taken into custody and taken to the city jail pending arraignment for his arrest warrant and other charges.

– Pablo J. Figueroa III, 36, of Lakewood was charged with seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance, three counts and resisting arrest following an incident which took place Sunday afternoon. Officers at 3:13 p.m. responded to a south side location for a shoplifting in progress. Officers later found Figueroa based on a description given by dispatch. Figueroa led officers on a pursuit and was taken into custody shortly after. Figueroa was allegedly found to be in possession of a small quantity of methamphetamine, cocaine and fentanyl. Figueroa also had an active arrest warrant from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office. He was transported to the city jail and given an appearance ticket to appear in court later. He was then turned over to Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.

– Kristen L. Surrena, 34, of Jamestown was charged with second-degree harassment, resisting arrest and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, following an incident Thursday evening. Officers were investigating a report of a domestic violence incident at 8:50 p.m. at a residence in the south side of the city. Officers allege Surrena was the primary aggressor. Officers told Surrena she was being arrested, at which point she allegedly became disorderly and shut the door and locked it. Surrena then allegedly told officers that she was “not under arrest.” Surrena continued to refuse to come out of her dwelling, with officers reporting they could hear three children crying during this quasi-standoff. Serrena eventually opened the door and officers took her into custody. Serrena was taken to the city jail and held pending arraignment.

– Naquan M. Evans, 28, of Jamestown, was charged with three counts of second-degree criminal contempt following an incident which took place on Thursday. Officers responded to a south side residence at 11:58 p.m., Thursday evening, for a reported past-tense physical domestic violence incident. Officers report that Evans had violated an active order of protection for one adult and two children at the location. Evans was taken into custody, transported to the city jail and will be in court at a later date.

– Justin K. Kopta, 39, of Jamestown was arrested and charged with driving with ability impaired – drugs, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and unsafe backing, following an incident Thursday morning. Officers responded to a south side residence for a reported motor vehicle accident at 11:24 a.m. Upon arrival, officers reported seeing Kopta overdosing next to the vehicle involved with the crash that hit a home structure. Officers report that witnesses stated seeing Kopta backing his car into the driveway when the accident occurred. EMS was requested for Kopta and a search was conducted of the vehicle and of Kopta. Officers allege that fentanyl and methamphetamine were found during the search. Kopta was transported to UPMC Chautauqua for treatment and then transported to Jamestown City Jail, where he was released with an appearance ticket to appear in court at a later date and time.

WESTFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT

Philip A. Cowan was arrested and charged with second-degree harassment, second-degree criminal contempt and fourth-degree stalking, following an incident which took place May 2, May 3 and May 7. The Village of Westfield Police Department, on May 7, at 7:11 p.m. investigated several incidents of alleged harassment of the resident of 13 Chestnut St., Westfield. Officers alleged that Cowan was in violation of an active court order of protection. Cowan was subsequently arrested and issued a uniformed appearance ticket and a fingerprint appearance ticket. He will be in court later to answer these charges.
