NAMES RELEASED IN FATAL CRASH

NORTH HARMONY — Police have released the names of the individuals who were involved in a rollover accident.

Around 6:50 p.m. Tuesday, deputies with the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Route 394 near Carpenter Pringle Road. Upon arrival deputies determined that a 2018 white SUV being operated by 19-year-old Victoria M. Smith of Lakewood was traveling eastbound when it traveled off the road causing the vehicle to rollover.

One of the passengers was identified as 19-year-old Nija T. Slater-Hawkins of Jamestown, who was ejected from the vehicle and sustained serious injuries. The third passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene and was identified as 22-year-old Franchesca L. Oneal-Hawkins. Both Smith and Slater-Hawkins were transported to UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pa., for treatment of their injuries.Slater-Hawkins has been released from the hospital while Smith is still being treated.

The investigation is still ongoing.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

SILVER CREEK — At around 7 p.m. May 19, deputies responded to a business for a report of shoplifting that occurred. Through an investigation it was discovered that Courtney Faraci, of Angola, had allegedly left the business with merchandise without paying.

Faraci was later identified as the suspect and was interviewed after being located. On Wednesday, she was charged with petit larceny and will be in court later.
