CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT
— KIANTONE — At around 8:07 p.m. Saturday, deputies responded to a single motor vehicle accident on Donelson Road. The operator was identified as Bethany S. Johnson, 50, of Jamestown. Further investigation found Johnson to have been operating the motor vehicle while intoxicated. She was charged with felony driving while intoxicated, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operator, operating out of ignition interlock restriction, backing unsafely and unregistered motor vehicle. She will answer her charges in town court.
— POLAND — At around 2:45 a.m. Saturday, deputies located a vehicle off of the road on Route 394. The operator of the vehicle was identified as Beth A. Grover, 48, of Cherry Creek. Further investigation found that Grover was operating the motor vehicle while intoxicated. Grover was charged with DWI, DWI per se, and speed not reasonable or prudent. She will answer for her charges in town court.
JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT
— Michael Morley, 29, was charged with third-degree criminal mischief. At 12:15 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to a complaint on the south side of the city.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim, who reported that a male struck her vehicle with a skateboard, causing damage to the vehicle. The male then ran from the scene. Officers located the male, later identified as Morley a short time later. He was taken into custody without incident and arraigned in city court.
— Trea L Buchanan, 31, was charged with felony third-degree grand larceny.
Just after midnight, officers responded to an address on the city’s South side for a larceny complaint. The subsequent investigation discovered Buchanan, who is a homeless individual, had come to the victim’s home to visit. While in the residence Buchanan stole more than $3,000 worth of property before leaving.
A swift investigation by officers located Buchanan across the city. He was taken into custody and transported to the city jail pending arraignment.
— Chaze A. Johnson, 32, of Jamestown was charged with first-degree burglary, two counts of third-degree criminal mischief, fourth-degree criminal mischief, two counts of criminal obstruction of breathing and third-degree assault.
At around 1:30 a.m., officers responded to a southside address for a reported domestic dispute. Through investigation it was discovered that Johnson broke into the victims residence armed with a baseball bat.
Johnson proceeded to engage in a physical altercation with the victim where he choked the victim, bit the victim and prevented the victim from calling 911 by taking the victim’s cell phone. Johnson additionally broke the victims glasses as well as the victims front door.
Johnson was held in the City Jail pending arraignment.
— James Hicks Jr., 26, was charged with second-degree menacing and second-degree harassment. At about 1 p.m. Friday, officers responded to a fight on the South side of the city. After a brief investigation, it was determined that Hicks had threatened a female victim.
During an argument, Hicks made verbal threats and also used a large rock to intimidate the victim as well. Hicks was found a short distance away from the scene and was taken into custody and held pending arraignment.
— Heather S. Ness, 40, was charged with first-degree criminal contempt and resisting arrest. Officers were patrolling in the area of Washington and West Sixth streets around 7:30 a.m. Saturday when they observed Ness, who they knew to have a valid Stay Away Order of Protection with a victim at a residence in that area. Officers then observed Ness walk up to the victim’s property. Once officers made contact with Ness, she started walking away and the officers had to grab ahold of her, where she resisted arrest. Ness was transported to the Jamestown City Jail where she was held pending arraignment.
— Douglas E. Puckett Jr., 38, was charged with third-degree criminal trespass, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence. At 9 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to a condemned residence located on the east side of the city in reference to a trespassing complaint. Upon arrival, officers observed a male subject standing inside the residence. The individual was immediately identified as Puckett based on numerous prior encounters of a similar nature.
Puckett was placed under arrest and subsequently found to be in possession of a controlled substance, which was concealed on his person. Further investigation revealed that Puckett had attempted to conceal or destroy evidence, resulting in an additional charge.
— Virginia L. Matteson, 56, of Jamestown was charged with second-degree criminal contempt. At approximately 9:30 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to an address on the West side of the city for an unwanted person. Officers observed Matteson sitting at a table in the residence of the victim.
Officers knew there to be a valid Stay Away Order of Protection against Matteson, protecting the victim. She was placed into custody and transported to the city jail without incident.
