CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT
— BEMUS POINT – At around 1:06 a.m. Saturday, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Bemus Point-Ellery Road. The operator was identified as Abigail M. Jenkins, 25, of Rittman, Ohio. Further investigation found Jenkins to be driving while intoxicated. Jenkins was charged with DWI, and speed in zone. She will answer for her charges in the Ellery Town Court.
DUNKIRK POLICE DEPARTMENT
— On June 2, at 5:58 p.m., a Dunkirk Police officer stopped a vehicle near Main and East Fifth streets for an observed vehicle and traffic law violation.
The operator, identified as Nathan S. Steinhoff, 25, of Stockton, was found to have a suspended license. Further investigation led to the discovery and seizure of approximately 2.6 grams of suspected cocaine along with several items of drug paraphernalia. Steinhoff was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, and vehicle and traffic law violations. Steinhoff was released on appearance tickets.
— On May 31 at 6:48 p.m., Dunkirk Police officers observed a subject in the area of East Sixth Street and Park Avenue who had confirmed warrants out of Jamestown Police Department. Officers made contact with the individual, Brittney R. Washington, 33, of Jamestown. Washington repeatedly identified herself as another subject in an attempt to deceive officers. Officers eventually determined her true identity and she was charged with second-degree criminal impersonation. Washington was subsequently turned over to JPD on their warrants.
— On Friday, May 30, Dunkirk Police officers responded to an address on the 500 block of Deer Street for a reported disorderly person at 6:40 p.m.
Upon arrival officers made contact with the suspect, Thomas W. Watson, 62, of Dunkirk. During the interaction Watson began destroying items in front of officers belonging to a neighbor. Officers took Watson into custody and while doing so Watson physically resisted officers. Watson was transported to police headquarters and held for arraignment on charges of fourth-degree criminal mischief and second-degree obstructing governmental administration. Watson was later released without bail.
— On Friday, May 30, at 5:19 p.m., a Dunkirk police officer observed a subject in the area of East Second Street and Washington Avenue with a confirmed warrant out of the Fredonia Police Department. The subject, Jonathan A. Herdzik, 41, of Dunkirk, was taken into custody without incident. After arrest officers located approximately 0.3 grams of suspected Fentanyl, 1.4 grams of suspected cocaine, and 0.38 grams of suspected methamphetamine on his person. Herdzik was charged with three separate counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and turned over to Fredonia police on their warrants.
— On May 21, a Dunkirk police officer observed a subject on a bicycle in the area of Ruggles Street and Cliffstar Drive with confirmed warrants through the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office around 9:15 p.m. Officers made contact with the subject, Alexander Santiago, 50, of Dunkirk, and attempted to place him into custody.
While doing so Santiago attempted to discard items of drug paraphernalia he had on his person. When officers retrieved the items Santiago then attempted to damage them and kick them. Santiago was charged with second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia and felony tampering with physical evidence. Santiago was turned over to the Sheriff’s Department on his warrants.
