MISSING KAYAKER’S BODY LOCATED NEAR HARBOR
WESTFIELD — The body of a missing kayaker has been found.
Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department deputies report Casey Q. Norene, 23, of Westfield was reported missing around 6:15 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Barcelona Harbor on Lake Erie. A search was conducted by crews that included North East, Pa., and the Coast Guard.
At around 10 a.m. Saturday, the body was located on the shore of Lake Erie near the harbor.
CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT
— ELLERY — At around 7:12 p.m., the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to a vehicle complaint. The vehicle was located at Dutch Hollow Road and the operator was identified as Christopher J. Ley, 64, of Dunkirk. Further investigation found Ley to be Driving While Intoxicated. Ley was charged with felony DWI, and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operator. He will answer his charges in town court later.
— CHAUTAUQUA — At around 9:50 p.m. the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single motor vehicle accident on Beech Hill Road. The operator was identified as Lisa M. Weaver, 47, of Dewittville. Further investigation found Weaver to be driving while intoxicated. Weaver was charged with DWI, DWI per se, backing unsafely, and moving from lane unsafely. She will answer her charges in the town court later.
JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT
— Charles N. Dean, 26, of Jamestown was charged with second-degree unlawful imprisonment, criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation.
At about 11:10 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to an address on the east side of the city for a physical domestic. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the female victim and the suspect, Dean.
After further investigation, it was discovered that Dean pinned the female victim against the wall by applying pressure to her throat to prevent her from leaving after a verbal dispute. Dean was taken into custody and transported to the Jamestown City Jail where he was held pending his arraignment.
— Marcelino S. Hernandez, 43, ofJamestown was charged with resisting arrest, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and operating an electric scooter on a sidewalk.
At 5:52 p.m. Saturday, officers were patrolling the area of Prendergast Avenue, when they observed Hernandez on a scooter commit traffic violations. Officers attempted to conduct a street check, in which Hernandez then disregarded verbal commands to stop and attempted to flee into a backyard. After a very brief pursuit, officers were able to catch Hernandez. While placing Hernandez into custody, he continued to disregard verbal commands and resist officers. Hernandez was quickly taken into custody without further incident, where he was also found to be in possession of a quantity of Fentanyl. Hernandez was transported to Jamestown City Jail, where he was held pending arraignment.
— Richard A. Poorman, 40, of Jamestown, was charged with resisting arrest, second-degree obstructing governmental administration, second-degree unlawful imprisonment, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, aggravated criminal contempt and third-degree assault.
At approximately 9:21 p.m., officers responded to a southside address for a disorderly person. When officers arrived on scene they observed Poorman in the driveway. Poorman refused to show officers his hands when instructed to do so. He ended up dropping a glassine envelope of suspected narcotics.
Officers then attempted to take Poorman into custody when he attempted to kick an officer. After a brief struggle, Poorman was taken into custody. It was discovered through investigation that there is a stay-away order of protection for Poorman to stay away from the victim. Poorman struck the victim multiple times and prevented her from exiting the residence to try and get away from him. Poorman was then transported to the city jail to be held pending arraignment.
— Amy L. Peterson, 39, of Jamestown was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated per se and crossing a fire hose.
On June 7 at 8:57 p.m., officers responded to a vehicle complaint regarding a sedan that ran over a charged fire hose in the roadway. Officers arrived on scene, and identified the operator as Peterson. After further investigation, it was found that Peterson disregarded emergency vehicles, and had ran over a charged fire hose laying across the roadway. It was also found that Peterson was operating the vehicle in an intoxicated state. Peterson was taken into custody and issued tickets to return to City Court at a later date.
— Three city residents are facing charges after a traffic stop on June 10.
At 9:25 p.m., officers conducted a stop on a vehicle in the area of Newton Avenue and Bowen Street for observed traffic infractions. Officers identified the occupants of the vehicle to be Alexander L. Digirolamo, Kayla M. Lutgen and Danielle D. Middaugh. While on the stop, officers could observe a mason jar containing 26.3 grams of methamphetamine in plain view in the area occupied by Alexander.
Officers then conducted a search of the vehicle and located packaging materials and a digital scale with powdered residue in the vehicle as well.
All three were taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail. Once in the city jail, Digirolamo was found to be in possession of an additional quantity of methamphetamine while Lutgen was found to be in possession of an additional quantity of fentanyl. Middaugh was subsequently charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia. Lutgen was charged with two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia 2nd. Digirolamo was charged with third- and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia.
All were held in the Jamestown City Jail pending arraignment.
— Tammy S. Oldro, 51, of Jamestown was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief. At 8:20 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to an address on the North side of Jamestown for the report of domestic incident. Through an investigation it was found that Oldro damaged property. She was taken into custody and transported to the city jail, where she was being held pending arraignment.
