— MAYVILLE — A Brocton man has been charged in a 2023 burglary.

On Nov. 18, 2023, deputies were called to investigate a burglary that occurred in the village where a moped was stolen from a shed. Through an investigation deputies were able to get enough evidence to obtain an arrest warrant for third-degree burglary, fourth-degree grand larceny and fourth-degree criminal mischief for the arrest of James Mawhir, 36.

Deputies located Mawhir and transported him to the Chautauqua County Jail where he was arraigned on his charges.

— At around 12:50 p.m. Nov. 23, deputies responded to a report of a criminal mischief complaint in the town of Dunkirk. It was alleged that multiple vehicles had their tires slashed. After investigation, it was found that Justin L. Horton, 41, of Stockton did intentionally slash the tires on two different vehicles. Horton was charged with two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief. Horton was released and will be in the Town of Dunkirk Court at a later date.

JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

— A Jamestown man is facing charges after an assault on Thanksgiving morning.

Alec C. Pentz, 30, was charged with second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

At around 9:41 a.m., officers from the Jamestown Police Department responded to a Northside address for a reported assault. A subsequent investigation determined that the suspect, Pentz, struck a victim at the scene with a baseball bat, causing the victim to sustain injuries.

Pentz was taken into custody and transported to the Jamestown City Jail where he was being held pending arraignment.

— Mathew L. Brown, 27, of Jamestown, was charged with third-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal mischief, third-degree criminal tampering and endangering the welfare of a child.

At approximately 6:22 p.m. on Thanksgiving, officers responded to a report of a disorderly person at a residence on the south side of the city. Upon arrival, officers located Brown. Officers

were already aware that Brown had an active arrest warrant issued by the Jamestown City Court. He was taken into custody without incident. Following his arrest, an investigation revealed that during a Thanksgiving dinner, Brown had thrown several cooking dishes full of food off a table, causing them to break and strike a juvenile victim in the face.

He was being held in the Jamestown City Jail pending his arraignment.

— Ronald T Troutman, 29, of Jamestown was charged with driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, unsafe speed and moving from lane unsafely.

Around 1:06 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to the area of Hallock and Chapel streets. Upon arrival, officers located a utility pole which was nearly sheared in half. Officers worked diligently to locate residences in the area that had security cameras. After reviewing camera footage, officers were able to identify the suspect vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed prior to losing control and striking the utility pole.

Officers were able to track the vehicle’s path, following the accident, due to the snow-covered roads. Officers located the vehicle at a residence a short distance away. Officers made contact with the registered owner of the vehicle, Troutman. The subsequent investigation uncovered Troutman had been operating the vehicle at the time of the accident.

He was taken into custody and transported to the Jamestown City Jail without incident and held pending arraignment.

— James H Bello, 76, of Jamestown, was charged with forcible touching.

At approximately 9:40 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to a location on the west side to assist Jamestown Fire and EMS after receiving a report of a man shivering in the cold. Upon investigation, it was revealed that this man was accused of forcibly touching the intimate parts of a male victim. Officers conducted a show-up procedure, through which the victim confirmed the

identity of the male in question, Bello. Bello was taken into custody and released to be in court later.

— Robert J. Brown, 50, of Jamestown, was charged with first-degree criminal contempt.

At about 10:59 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to an address on the West side of the city for a domestic incident. The suspect, Brown, and a Jamestown resident were located near the residence.

After further investigation it was discovered that Brown violated a full stay away order of protection issued in the City of Jamestown Court for him to stay away from the victim. Brown had a previous conviction of criminal contempt within the preceding five years,

making this a felony charge. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the city jail where he was held pending arraignment.

— Anthony L. Anzalone, 49, and Marylou Johnson, 80, are facing charges after an incident early Saturday.

At around 1:16 a.m., officers responded to a south side address for two unwanted individuals. Officers located Anzalone inside of the residence, and it was found that he was there unlawfully and refused to leave when told to do so. Officers also spoke to Johnson outside of the residence, who threatened a 14-year-old that resides at the address. Johnson was placed into

custody and transported to the Jamestown City Jail on charges of second-degree harassment and endangering the welfare of a child. Anzalone was charged with second-degree criminal trespass.

— Katherine A. Walton, 56, of Jamestown, was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief.

At 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to an address on the west side of the city for a reported domestic dispute. Upon investigation, it was determined that Walton intentionally damaged the victim’s property during a property exchange.

She was taken into custody and transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where she was held pending arraignment.
