Man charged after domestic incident in city
A Christmas Eve domestic incident led to a number of charges against a man in the city of Dunkirk.
City police reported Monday that at 12:54 a.m. Dec. 24, they responded to an address on Lincoln Avenue for a report of a dispute with a suspect in possession of a knife. An investigation determined that Joshua Sanchez, no age given, allegedly attacked two adult females, and a 9-year-old juvenile. During the course of the incident, he also prevented the victims from leaving the residence.
Sanchez fled the scene prior to Officer’s arrival and a search of the area located Sanchez in a nearby back yard where he then fled from patrol.
After a brief foot pursuit, Sanchez was taken into custody. Sanchez was transported to Dunkirk Police headquarters and charged with three counts of second-degree harassment, endangering the welfare of a child, resisting arrest, second-degree obstruction of governmental administration, first-degree criminal contempt and unlawful imprisonment.
Sanchez was arraigned in Dunkirk City Court and remanded to the County Jail.
