Firefighters quickly quell blaze

JAMESTOWN – Jamestown firefighters extinguished a blaze on the second floor of a 208 Charles St. residence.

Upon arrival around 12:43 a.m. Friday, crews observed fire in second floor windows with smoke venting from the eves and attic.

Crews quickly extinguished the fire after locating the blaze. No occupants or victims were located by firefighters at the scene.

Jamestown Police Department assisted with traffic control and Alstar stood by at the scene.

Firefighters were back in service by 5 a.m.

Runaway teen located with family

A runaway teenager was located Friday at a family residence in Jamestown.

Fredonia police made the announcement after issuing a news release regarding the social media reports on the missing individual.

For clarification, officers said, the 13-year-old, Matthew Kendall, was listed as a runaway. He was last seen Wednesday running from the Fredonia Middle School by school officials.

The Fredonia Police investigators were in contact by phone with the minor, and all information regarding the investigation was being shared with the custodial parent.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

— CHAUTAUQUA — At around 07:38 a.m. Friday, deputies with the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office and New York State Parole responded to an address on Potter Road in an attempt to serve papers. Through the course of the service attempt, it was discovered that Alexander K. Latta, 30 of Clymer,. was present at the address and was in violation of a duly served court order out of the Town of Chautauqua Court.

Latta was later charged with second-degree criminal contempt and transported to the Sheriff’s Department. Latta was released and will be in town court later.

— SILVER CREEK — A shoplifting complaint has led to charges against a Dunkirk woman.

At 2:24 p.m. Thursday, the Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a business in the village. The female in question had allegedly exited the business without paying for $170.99 worth of merchandise.She was located shortly after the call and was identified as Gianna M. Gates, 28, who was also in possession of the stolen merchandise. Gates will be in town court later.

JAMESTOWN POLICE

– Eduardo L. Rivera, 26, of Jamestown was charged with third-degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle at 10:31 a.m. Friday after officers conducted a follow‒up investigation today at a residence on the east side of the city in connection with an earlier unauthorized use of a motor vehicle complaint. Officers had been advised that the person involved in the incident was allegedly at the victim’s residence. Upon arrival, officers found Rivera, who was charged without incident and taken to the city jail until he could be arraigned.
