City man charged after reckless ATV ride
A Dunkirk man is facing multiple vehicle and traffic violations after leading police on a pursuit while driving an all-terrain vehicle.
Around 7:12 p.m. March 29, a Dunkirk police officer observed an ATV recklessly and illegally operating on a public highway in the area of Lake Shore Drive East. Officers attempted to stop the ATV, however, the operator failed to comply, leading officers on a pursuit.
During the pursuit, the operator recklessly disobeyed multiple traffic laws, and at one point fled onto the railroad tracks in an attempt to evade officers. Officers were able to take the operator into custody as he attempted to abandon the ATV at a residence.
Carlos J. Ayala-Agosto, was transported to police headquarters and charged with second-degree obstruction and multiple traffic tickets for various vehicle and traffic law violations. The ATV was subsequently impounded.
