OFFICIALS CONFIRM IDENTIFY OF BODY DISCOVERED IN LAKE

Officials with the Erie County Medical Examiner’s Office have confirmed that the body pulled from Chautauqua Lake Saturday morning is that of Daniel “Scott” Emerson.

Around 8:45 a.m. the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a possible body on the shoreline near the Stow Ferry in North Harmony. Deputies, with assistance from the Chautauqua County Coroners’ Office and the Lakewood Busti Police Department, had at that time preliminarily identified the body as that of Emerson, 64, of Lakewood.

Emerson was reported missing to the Lakewood-Busti Police Department on March 5. Investigation found that Emerson entered onto Chautauqua Lake driving his F150 pickup on March 4 and proceeded north on the ice before going through it under the I-86 bridge. Emerson’s truck was located on March 16 by divers and recovered on March 20.

JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

– David L. Lewis Jr., of Jamestown, was charged May 23 with felony driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI per se, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, and operating outside of an interlock device restriction. According to police, at about 11:45 p.m., officers were patrolling in the area of West Seventh and Washington streets, and conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for observed traffic infractions. Officers identified the operator as Lewis, and through investigation, it was found that he allegedly was operating a motor vehicle in an intoxicated state. Lewis was placed into custody without incident, and taken to Jamestown City Jail. He will be in Jamestown City Court later.

– Samuel S. Laih, of Pennsylvania, was charged May 24 with DWI and DWI per se. According to police, at about 1:22 a.m., officers were patrolling the south side when they observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation. Officers conducted a traffic stop and Laih was identified as the operator of the vehicle. Through investigation, officers determined Laih allegedly was operating a motor vehicle while in an intoxicated state. He was placed into custody, and taken to the city jail. He will be in city court later.

– Nikitta S. Vazquez, 39, of Jamestown, was charged May 23 with first-degree criminal contempt, second-degree menacing, and endangering the welfare of a child. According to police, at about 4:18 p.m., officers responded to a domestic dispute at a southside address. Officers learned that Vazquez allegedly waved a knife at a juvenile victim during the dispute. She was placed into custody, and transported to the city jail. Vazquez will be in city court later.

– Jonathan Torres, 37, of Jamestown was charged May 23 with third-degree assault, second-degree criminal contempt, and endangering the welfare of a child. According to police, at about 10:11 p.m., officers along with New York State Police, responded to a southside address for a domestic dispute. Through investigation, it was found that Torres allegedly struck a male victim in the presence of two young children, one of which had an order of protection against Torres. Torres was placed into custody, and taken to the city jail. He will be in city court later.

– Calvis King Emanuel, 18, of Jamestown, was charged May 25 with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. According to police, at about 12:10 a.m., officers responded to a southside address for a reported large fight. Upon arrival, officers spoke with one of the individuals involved. Officers then canvassed the area, located Emanuel a short distance away. Upon further investigation, it was found that Emanuel was in alleged possession of a loaded handgun with a large-capacity feeding device. It was also found that the gun had a fake serial number on it, rendering it to be a “ghost gun.” Emanuel was placed into custody without incident, and taken to the city jail. He will be in city court later.

– Lynette L. Johnson, 57, of Jamestown was charged May 25 with trespass, resisting arrest, and second-degree obstructing governmental administration. According to police, officers responded to a downtown hotel for a report of a female guest causing a disturbance. Officers made contact with the guest who was identified as Johnson. Johnson, police said, was uncooperative with officers and allegedly refused to leave the hotel after she was asked to do so. While officers attempted to remove Johnson from the hotel, she allegedly began pulling away from officers. After a brief struggle, Johnson was placed into custody, and taken to the city jail. She will be in city court later.

– Tizon M. Moreland, 25, of Jamestown, was charged May 25 with resisting arrest, second-degree obstructing governmental administration, and multiple warrants. According to police, at about 7:19 p.m., officers responded to a northside residence for a reported domestic incident. Moreland, police said, has multiple confirmed Jamestown City Court warrants, and had fled the scene prior to officers arrival. Officers located Moreland near the scene, and he led officers on a brief foot pursuit. After a brief struggle, Moreland was placed into custody, and was taken to the city jail. He will be in city court later.

– Telly Ortiz Loveless, 29, of Jamestown, was charged May 23 with DWI. According to police, at about 2:06 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop at Washington and West 15th streets. A subsequent investigation revealed that Loveless allegedly was operating the vehicle while intoxicated. He was placed into custody, and taken to the city jail. He will be in city court later.

LAKEWOOD-BUSTI POLICE DEPARTMENT

– Michael J. Larimer, 39, of Ashville, was charged May 20 with being a fugitive from justice. According to police, at about 4 p.m., officers responded to a Busti Town Court for a wanted person out of Martin County, Florida. The Chautauqua County Department of Probation advised officers that Larimer had an active probation warrant out of Florida. Larimer was placed into custody, and taken to the Chautauqua County Jail.

TOWN OF ELLICOTT POLICE DEPARTMENT

– Sarah E. Johnson, 48 , of Jamestown was charged May 18 with third-degree burglary. According to police, at about 3:07 p.m., officers responded to shoplifting complaint at Wegmans, 945 Fairmount Ave., where it is alleged Johnson was concealing merchandise in personal bag and left past the point of sale, with knowledge that she was previously trespassed from the property. Johnson was placed into custody, and taken to the county jail for centralized arraignment. She will be in Ellicott Town Court later.

– Mattthew S. Zimmer, 44 , of Jamestown, was charged May 23 with driving while ability impaired by drugs, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, and other traffic violations. According to police, at about 7:46 a.m., officers conducted a vehicle and traffic stop near 707 Fairmount Ave., due to a male operator being passed out behind the wheel, with the vehicle running, and diagonally across the parking lot. It is alleged Zimmer was operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs. Police said Zimmer also had a revoked NYS drivers license which was revoked for DWI related offenses. He was placed into custody, and taken to the county jail for centralized arraignment. He will be in town court later.

– Jack E. Wyant, 21 , of Falconer was charged May 20 with second-degree criminal contempt. According to police, at about 3:30 p.m., officers responded to assist JPD with a search warrant conducted by JPD stemming from an incident that occurred in Jamestown on a separate date. It is alleged Wyant was inside the residence with the protected party. Wyant was placed into custody, and taken to the county jail for centralized arraignment. He will be in town court later.

– Nicholas A. Taylor, 41 , of Jamestown was charged May 23 with petit larceny. According to police, at about 11:20 a.m., officers responded to a shoplifting complaint at CVS Pharmacy where it is alleged Taylor took merchandise from CVS, and left without paying for the merchandise. Taylor was issued an appearance ticket, and will be in town court later.
