CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE
– RIPLEY – Mark R. Freligh, 63, of Sherman was charged with DWI, DWI per se and moving from lane unsafely at 12:21 a.m. Friday after deputies responded to a single motor vehicle accident on NE Sherman Road, Ripley. Freligh will be in Ripley Town Court later.
JAMESTOWN POLICE
– Tysean L. Mays, 21, of Jamestown was charged with second-degree criminal contempt and resisting arrest after officers conducted a street check near a north side business at 1:13 a.m. Friday. According to a police report, officers saw Mays walking with a woman with whom he has a full stay-away order of protection. Officers also say Mays had an active bench warrant for his arrest. While attempting to take Mays into custody, a brief struggle occurred before Mays was subdued. Mays was taken to the Jamestown City Jail without further incident until he could be arraigned.
ELLICOTT POLICE
– Debra K. Leeper, 58 , of Jamestown was charged with failure to stop for a school bus with red lights activated and driving while ability impaired at 8:31 a.m. Friday after officers responded to school zone operations following a Southwestern school bus on Fairmount Avenue. Leeper allegedly passed the school bus with its red lights activated. Leeper will be in Ellicott Town Court later.
– Michael J. Thompson, 37, of Falconer was charged with third-degree assault Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. after officers responded to a domestic dispute where it is alleged Thompson hit another person multiple times causing physical injury. Thompson was charged and taken to the county jail for centralized arraignment. He will be in Ellicott Town Court later.
– Kevin L. Newby, 55, of Jamestown was charged with third-degree grand larceny at 1:06 a.m. Friday after officers responded to a larceny that took place at 11:31 a.m. July 15. It's alleged Newby took a motorcycle valued at more than $3,000 dollars without permission or the right to do so. On Thursday, , around 11:59 p.m., Newby was pulled over by Jamestown police officers and was detained for having an arrest warrant out of the Ellicott Police Department. Newby was taken back to the Ellicott Police Department for processing and then taken to the Chautauqua County Jail for a centralized arraignment. He will be in Ellicott Town Court later.
– Dezera T. Miller, 29, of Falconer was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance on Sept. 24 after officers responded to the Budget Inn to assist New York State parole officers. It is alleged Miller was located inside one of the rooms in possession of what is believed to be cocaine. Miller was released with an appearance ticket to be in Ellicott Town Court later.
– Bryan R. Novaro, 35, of Jamestown was charged with petit larceny at 4 p.m. Sept. 26 after Ellicott police responded to a warrant check where it is alleged Novaro turned himself in at the Jamestown Police Department. Novaro was taken to the Chautauqua County Jail for a centralized arraignment and will be in Ellicott Town Court later.
– Kahmara R Holloman, 20, of Jamestown was charged with second-degree aggravated harassment, fourth-degree criminal tampering and fourth-degree stalking on Wednesday. Ellicott police responded to a domestic dispute where it is alleged Holloman repeatedly called a person and showed up at various places where they were. Holloman also allegedly spit on the person's vehicle. Holloman was issued an appearance ticket and released to be in Ellicott Town Court later.
– Dakota N. Baker, 34, of Ellington was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, speed in zone, failure to signal, consumption of alcohol in motor vehicle and unlicensed operation at 2:18 p.m. Sept. 23 after officers pulled a vehicle over after allegedly seeing multiple traffic violations. It's alleged Baker was operating a motor vehicle while impaired by a drug and had an open container of alcohol and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. Baker was issued numerous traffic tickets and released to be in court later.
