Sheriff’s Office, AXON partner for public safety

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office has announced a new partnership Wednesday with AXON to deploy its Community Request integration with Ring smart camera devices. This partnership allows the Sheriff’s Office to invite Ring users to voluntarily share camera footage that may assist law enforcement in investigating crimes and enhancing public safety. Participation in this program is voluntary. Ring camera owners remain in full control of whether, how, and what footage they choose to share. CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT - Brooke Rasumus Gilbert, 33, of Dunkirk, was charged Feb. 9 with third-degree assault, and fourth-degree criminal mischief. According to officials, around 5:43 p.m. deputies responded to a fight at Mechanic Street and Central Avenue in the Village of Silver Creek. Upon arrival and through investigation, it was determined that Gilbert allegedly punched another person in the face causing physical injury, and which broke the victim’s glasses. CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT — SHERMAN — At around 8:46 p.m., Friday, deputies observed a vehicle driving erratically and driving into oncoming traffic on Route 430. The vehicle was observed to almost go off the pavement on the opposite side of the road. The vehicle was stopped and the operator was identified as Jeffrey A. Greiner, 39, from the Town of Sherman. Through investigation Greiner was found to be driving while intoxicated. JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT - Amanda D. Ferguson, 42, of Jamestown was charged Feb. 2 with petit larceny and fourth-degree criminal mischief. According to police, at about 11:24 p.m., officers responded to a shoplifting in progress at CVS, located at 19 S. Main St. It was determined that Ferguson allegedly had stolen merchandise belonging to the store. Officers located Ferguson a short distance from the store and were able to retrieve the items. Bus involved in minor mishap Emergency crews responded to an accident involving a vehicle and school bus. According to scanner reports, the incident happened in the town of Pomfret on Route 20 east of the roundabout with seven students aboard. Upon arrival all, including the students, were reported to be OK at the time. The incident occurred around 8 a.m. Fredonia Fire Department was one of the responders. CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT - Zane Tucker, 30, of Clymer, was charged Jan. 30 with driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and having an unregistered motor vehicle. According to officials, at about 11:16 p.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop on Brownell Road in the town of French Creek.
