BROCTON – Although the ownership of the Green Arch Restaurant in Brocton has changed, its legacy will live on.

In February, previous owners Al and Cheryl Brumagin notified the public they were looking to sell after 30 years of operating the restaurant.

At the beginning of May, Lori Lisa and her family took ownership of the 1931 Mullholland Diner.

The Brumigans wrote to the OBSERVER to thank the customers who supported the business and wish them health and happiness.

Lisa said the restaurant was closed for two days in the transition and has since reopened.

Lisa’s mother and father ran several local restaurants ,including the Four Seasons in the D&F Plaza and Westfield and Dick’s Harbor House in Mayville.

She said tht since her parents’ passing, she has wanted to get back into the business.

“I had been in nursing for a while, but I had been longing to get back into the restaurant business,” she said.

She said she is not looking to make drastic changes to the restaurant, but has changed the hours to 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. everyday except Friday, when the restaurant is open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. for fish fry.

“For the most part, we are going to maintain what the previous owners were doing ,especially this first year. We don’t want to make any abrupt changes and I think what they were doing was good,” Lisa said.

She said she is trying to bring some of the feel from her family’s previous restaurants to the new business and has put an emphasis on home cooking.

“We have homemade potato salad, macaroni salad, cole slaw. We also feature homemade soups and desserts. It is a little bit of them and some of what I came from,” Lisa said. “We are trying to do hometown cooking and cook as many items fresh daily as possible. We hope to be a part of the community and supply them with good food at a good price. I want it to be like they are coming into my own home.”

Lisa thanked the Brumigans for the opportunity.

The Green Arch Restaurant was the last Mullholland Diner made in Dunkirk and since its establishment in 1931, is one of the longest continuously operating businesses in the county. The restaurant is located at 41 West Main St., Brocton.
