Forestville Food Pantry wins Conagra Foods Foundation Nourish Our Community grant

The Forestville Food Pantry is one of 18 winners nationwide of the 2013 ConAgra Foods Foundation Nourish Our Community Grants. The ConAgra Foods Foundation awards these grants annually to nonprofit organizations that provide exceptional service to communities where ConAgra Foods employees live and work.

The Forestville Food Pantry has been awarded a $7,200 grant. Funds will be used to purchase food for needy families in the Forestville area. The organization was nominated for the award by David Flowers of ConAgra Foods, which employs approximately 450 people in Fredonia.

ConAgra Foods employees are central to the Nourish Our Community Grants program. Employees across the company nominate nonprofit organizations making an impact in their communities, and a cross-functional employee committee reviews and selects the grant recipients. Awards in 2013 totaled $284,000.

“The Forestville Food Pantry is an important organization in this community,” said Mark Chamberlain, senior director of Operations for ConAgra Foods in Fredonia. “It provides much needed support to different programs in town. I know they work diligently to raise money for their projects, and they deserve this grant from ConAgra Foods.”

“On behalf of the volunteers and clients from the Forestville Food Pantry, I would like to thank David Flowers for all of the help and support, and ConAgra Foods for this wonderful donation,” said Lorraine Hodkin, representative for Forestville Food Pantry. “We will utilize the Nourish Our Community grant to provide much needed food for our clients.”
