WCA Hospital president/CEO elected to American College of Healthcare Executives Council of Regents

JAMESTOWN – Betsy T. Wright, FACHE, WCA Hospital president/CEO, has been appointed to the Council of Regents, the legislative body of the American College of Healthcare Executives. The Council of Regents serves as the vital link between the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and members by approving governance and membership regulations as well as promoting ACHE programs, services and activities within their respective areas.

Wright is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. She took office at the Council of Regents Meeting on March 22, during ACHE’s 57th Congress on Healthcare Leadership at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. As a regent, Wright will represent ACHE’s members in the New York-Northern and Western region for a three-year term.

In 2012, Wright began serving as Regent for New York-Empire Area on an interim basis. She also serves ACHE as a member of the Chief Executive Officers Committee.

A Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Wright was named president/CEO of WCA Hospital in July 1999. She has served as executive vice president/COO and had filled various administrative positions at WCA Hospital since 1989. Wright received a master of business administration degree with honors from the William E. Simon Graduate School of Business Administration of the University of Rochester, Rochester. She also holds a bachelors of Science with honors from Hartwick College in Oneonta. In addition to president/CEO of WCA Hospital, Wright serves as the president of STARFLIGHT, Inc. and president of W.C.A. Services Corporation, Inc., a for profit affiliate and president of W.C.A. Group, Inc., the parent corporation. She was appointed to the board of trustees of the Healthcare Association of New York state (HANYS) in 2008 and continues to serve. She is past chair of the WNY Healthcare Association Board, past chair of the Southern Tier Healthcare System Board, past chair and vice chair, and a member of the following boards: Medical Liability Mutual Insurance Company, Chautauqua County Health Network, Chautauqua County Integrated Delivery System HANYS Quality Steering Committee member.

Wright was selected one of Buffalo Business First POWER 250 Most Influential Business Leaders In Western New York in 2014.
