Dunkirk Applebee’s salutes servicemen and women during National Military Appreciation Month

T.L. Cannon Companies, the franchisee for 59 Applebee’s restaurants in upstate New York and Connecticut, will continue its ongoing commitment to veterans and active duty military during the month of May for “National Military Appreciation Month.”

Now through Saturday, May 31, servicemen and women who dine at participating Applebee’s restaurants will receive a 10 percent discount on all meals, excluding tax, gratuity, gift cards and other discounts. Applebee’s will also donate a portion of proceeds from Pepsi soft drink and Leinenkugel Summer Shandy beer sales to The Mission Continues, a national organization that encourages veterans to serve and inspire in their local communities.

“Military Appreciation Month” is the perfect opportunity to build upon our annual Veterans Day celebration and further show our gratitude to those who have served or are serving,” said Stephanie Griffin, Director of Marketing for T.L. Cannon Companies. “In addition to offering a discount, we are also excited to support “The Mission Continues” and their work in helping communities benefit from the strength and expertise of veterans who have served our country and want to continue to make a difference now that they are home.”

Applebee’s patrons and military personnel can participate in the Military Appreciation Month offerings throughout the month of May at the Dunkirk restaurant located at 3908 Vineyard Drive, Dunkirk, NY 14048.

Proof of service is required to receive the 10 percent discount. Acceptable identification includes: U.S. Uniform Services Identification Card, U.S. Uniform Services Retired Identification Card, Current Leave and Earnings Statement, Veterans Organization Card, photograph in uniform or wearing uniform, DD214, Citation or Commendation.

Since 2009, Applebee’s locations nationally have served 4 million free meals to veterans and active duty military members on Veteran’s Day. Applebee’s also began recognizing U.S. veterans and active duty military servicemembers in 2011 with the launch of its national “Thank You Movement,” a program that encourages people to show their appreciation for members of our Armed Forces on Veterans Day. Since launching the program, Applebee’s has received more than 4.5 million personal “thank you” messages through the “Thank You Movement” website.
