Chautauqua Patrons Insurance Company, Everyday’s True Value donate smoke alarms

JAMESTOWN – Chautauqua Patrons Insurance Company recently donated $750 worth of smoke alarms to the American Red Cross in support of the Home Fire Campaign. Volunteers from the Red Cross will install the alarms, purchased at a reduced rate courtesy of Everyday’s True Value, in Chautauqua County homes that need them.

“We are so grateful that Chautauqua Patrons Insurance Company and Everyday’s True Value for supporting this important initiative,” said Chuck Marra, executive director of the American Red Cross, Western New York Chapter. “If a fire occurs, you may have only two minutes to escape your home. A working smoke alarm’s warning can save your life.”

The Home Fire Campaign aims to reduce the number of deaths and injuries caused by home fires by 25 percent nationally over the next five years. The Red Cross is asking every household in America to take two simple steps: check their existing smoke alarms and practice fire drills at home. As part of the initiative, the Red Cross is joining with fire departments and community groups nationwide to install free smoke alarms in homes that need them. To schedule an installation, please contact Jason Carmen at 716-664-5515 or jason.carmen@redcross.org.
