Website creation workshop Thursday at Fredonia Incubator
The next event in the Fredonia Technology Incubator’s Entrepreneurial Education Program workshop series is “Creating a Website for Your Startup.”
The workshop will be conducted by Fredonia 2011 alumnus Nick Gunner, CEO of Orbitist, an incubator client, on Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon at the FTI’s Dunkirk facility at 214 Central Ave.
The event is free and open to the public, and all attendees must register at orbitistworkshop.eventbrite.com, as seating is limited.
Gunner has designed the workshop for community members and startup businesses that are eager to learn about the basics of creating a website from start to finish. By the end of the three-hour session, one will be able to maintain an effective web presence for a business without the help of a developer.
“Given the background of Gunner and his company, having him lead the presentation will provide expert advice to all attendees,” said Chuck Cornell, incubator director.
In addition to Orbitist, Gunner is currently the New Media manager at Fredonia.
Orbitist is a company focused on managing geographic content that develops and produces digital maps to be used by tourism agencies, museums, research institutions and businesses, all to share their stories. The company’s cloud-based application lets users map video, photography, text and even Twitter posts. The maps can be embedded into websites, shared on social media, accessed on mobile devices via signage and brochures, and loaded onto interactive touch-screen displays for everyone to enjoy.
Located in the city of Dunkirk’s central business district, the Fredonia Technology Incubator promotes economic growth in Western New York by supporting entrepreneurship and the development of new, innovative companies into successful business ventures. The FTI is housed within Fredonia’s Division of Engagement and Economic Development, which oversees the university’s economic development programs, including StartUp NY. FTI currently supports nine business startups.
