SHERIDAN — Liberty Vineyards & Winery of Sheridan won Best White Wine at the 2017 Florida State Fair International Wine Competition for its 2016 Dry Riesling wine.

In addition to the Best of Show honor, Liberty Vineyards also took home Double Gold medals for its 2015 Riesling and Fredonia wines, both semi-sweet selections.

“We’re very happy with these awards. Our Dry Riesling is a wonderful dry wine with nice crisp notes; and Riesling and Fredonia are both favorites among customers who like a semi-sweet wine,” said Pam Burmaster, who owns the winery with her husband, Gary.

In addition to the Best of Show and Double Gold honors, Liberty received a Gold medal for its White Side of the Moon, a sweet, fruity white wine. Several other Liberty wines were awarded silver and bronze medals.

Liberty also received a number of awards at the International Eastern wine competition recently held in Sonoma County, California. Medals earned by Liberty Vineyards at that competition included a Gold for Fredonia (semi-sweet red), Silvers for 2016 Dry Riesling (dry white), Diamond (semi-sweet white), Trifection (semi-sweet white), Barrel-Select Noiret (dry red), Marquette (dry red) and Reds, Whites & Blues (sweet rose). Liberty also received a number of bronze medals at the competition.

Liberty Vineyards & Winery produces more than 20 wines. The winery is family-owned and operated and located at 2861 Route 20. The tasting and sales room is open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
