New faculty join JCC

David Canose, Corey Damon, Jacob Hordych, and Karen Weis joined the faculty at Jamestown Community College this fall.

Dr. Canose, assistant professor of psychology and addictions counseling, earned a bachelor’s degree at Harvard University, a master’s degree at Norfolk State University, and a doctorate through the Virginia Consortium Program in Clinical Psychology.

He taught previously at Gannon University, New York University School of Medicine, and Norfolk State University. Dr. Canose served as a psychologist at the University of Pittsburgh’s Counseling Center and Bellevue Hospital’s chemical dependency outpatient program.

Dr. Damon, who is assistant professor of chemistry, taught previously at Niagara University, Buffalo State College, Hilbert College, Canisius College, and the University at Buffalo.

He earned a bachelor’s degree at Canisius College, and master’s and doctoral degrees at the University at Buffalo.

Hordych is an instructor in JCC’s sport management program. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Lock Haven University and a bachelor’s degree at Penn State Behrend.

He was assistant athletics director, sport information director, head women’s soccer coach, and a sport management instructor at Mercyhurst University’s North East campus.

Weis, an instructor in the occupational therapy assistant program, earned a bachelor’s degree at Marywood College and master’s degrees at the University of Pittsburgh and Misericordia University.

She was the clinical education coordinator for the University of Scranton’s occupational therapy department and served as a mobile therapist and development specialist at several facilities in Pennsylvania.
