The Obstetrics Department at Brooks-TLC Hospital System, Inc. is honored to receive a generous donation of three infant swings from Fisher Price in East Aurora, NY.

According to Katie Tomkiewicz, RN, OB nurse manager, “Infant swings can be a valuable asset when mom needs help soothing a fussy baby and it also provides another way to interact with the infant.”

An infant swing provides just the right balance of motion and stimulation to soothe and comfort babies. While the swing could never take the pace of skin-to-skin contact, it is an important comfort for the hospital’s smallest patients.

Tomkiewicz adds, “We make every effort to educate and support parents and caregivers on the vital role that kangaroo care (skin-to-skin contact) plays for all babies.” The swings are just another tool to help ensure that patients and their families are supported and encouraged throughout their hospital experience.

Brooks-TLC’s Dunkirk campus offers an Obstetrics department with state-of-the-art labor and delivery for approximately 300 babies each year.
