Nestle Purina participates in Day of Service

Submitted Photo Nestle Purina employees volunteer at the Friendly Kitchen in honor of their Day of Service which benefits the local community.

Annually, Nestle Purina employees hold a Day of Service to benefit the local community. This year, employees of Nestle Purina chose Chautauqua County Rural Ministry’s soup kitchen as their project. Employees took shifts to give the Friendly Kitchen, located at 319 Washington Ave. in Dunkirk a complete face lift.

“What a blessing it was to have Kelly Allesi-Olson, Senior Coordinator at Nestle Purina, bring her team of approximately 12 employees to the facility. It’s a project we have wanted to do since we moved here in September 2018. Team members cleaned and sanitized all of the tables and chairs, as well as cleaning the walls and repainting the dining room for our guests,” stated Executive Director Kathleen G Peterson.

The soup kitchen dining room was closed that day, but a picnic lunch of hot dogs, hamburgs, pasta salad, chips, cookies and applesauce was served to 75 in the courtyard. The soup kitchen annually serves approximately 32,000 meals through the soup kitchen and distributes nearly 70,000 meals through the emergency food pantry.

CCRM is a United Way of Northern Chautauqua County Community Partner and funded by New York State Department of Health Division of Nutrition.
