Incubator presents tax and accounting workshop for entrepreneurs

The Fredonia Technology Incubator continues its Entrepreneurial Education Program with a workshop designed to assist entrepreneurs and startups with taxes and accounting. Small business owner, CPA and Fredonia lecturer Mark Nickerson will conduct the workshop.

“The Entrepreneurial Education Program provides entrepreneurs with useful, hands on information and an opportunity to ask presenters questions,” said Incubator Director Chuck Cornell. “High quality entrepreneurial workshops such as this are a key part of our services and programming we provide at the Incubator.”

The workshop will be held Tuesday, Sept. 10 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Fredonia Technology Incubator located at 214 Central Ave., Dunkirk. This event is free and open to the public. Seating is limited therefore, registration is required. The workshop will cover the topics of choice of business entity and income taxation, sales tax collection and filing, payroll tax requirements including independent contractors vs. employee considerations, and self-employment tax for business owners.

The workshop will be conducted by Mark Nickerson, CPA, CMA, MBA. Mr. Nickerson is a lecturer at State University of New York at Fredonia and owner of Mark Nickerson CPA PLLC. He has over 15 years of experience working with small businesses and startups.
