Local kids’ lemonade stand helps Humane Society
Submitted by Betty Meyer
Eleven-year-old Lizzy Meyer, the eldest grandchild of Joe and Betty Meyer of Dunkirk, asked to have a lemonade stand during her grandparents’ recent yard sale. Her grandparents agreed, provided a local charity was selected to benefit from the sales. Lakeshore Humane Society was the perfect choice.
With support and help from her cousin, Joey Meyer, along with her grandparents, a notable lemonade stand was constructed, including the all lemon-themed decor and serving supplies. Once open for business, the Meyer Lemonade Crew, Lizzy, 11; her twin sisters Ali and Ana, 6; along with her cousins, Joey, 6; and his sister Ellie, 2, offered ice cold lemonade along with fresh-baked lemon cupcakes and lemon bars each day for four days.
Their grandparents covered all of the overhead costs, so the total amount from the stand sales and donations would go directly to LHS. The crew presented a check for $222.56 to the LHS for their four-day efforts.
The family is grateful for and thank all those who provided support to the lemonade stand and the Meyer Lemonade Crew.
