Ribbon cutting set for Buffalo Solar Solutions’ Portland Solar Farm

PORTLAND — Buffalo Solar Solutions will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for the project commissioning of the E21 Portland Solar Farm on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m.

The event will include speeches from key influencers on the project as well as a representative of the New York State Senate 57th Legislative District, Kevin Muldowney and the Chautauqua County Legislature’s Mark O’Dell, a ribbon cutting ceremony, switching on the solar array and tours.

“This is an amazing opportunity for a community that would normally not be able to benefit from solar power,” said Jeremy McCool, commercial development manager at Buffalo Solar Solutions. “The solar array will not only benefit urban customers with renewable energy, but will feed surplus power to the main grid, thereby distributing clean energy and strengthening the local power grid.”

This project is a symbol of a new wave of solar energy projects sweeping across Western New York. The solar array will send electric bill savings to inner-city buildings that are unable to benefit from solar because they do not have the physical space to install their own solar array on the premises.

“Everybody wins with this project. And we hope to continue this trend of bringing solar to every part of Western New York, even those who cannot otherwise obtain it at their properties,” McCool said.

The Portland Solar Farm is located at 5695 Martin Road in Portland. Representatives from Buffalo Solar Solutions will be onsite to answer any questions about the solar array as well as any other general solar energy inquiries. Refreshments and hors d’oeuvres will be provided as well. For more information about the ceremony, please email sherry@buffalosolarsolutions or call 716-800-7775.
