Fredonia recognizes Administrative Services employees for outstanding service

The 2019 Outstanding Administrative Service Awards have been presented to five employees whose collective service spans 65 years and all major departments within the Finance and Administration division at the State University of New York at Fredonia. The awards highlight exemplary service that employees give to the campus.

“The award recognizes the good work that you do every day,” Vice President for Finance and Administration Michael Metzger told the recipients and guests at the Sept. 26 luncheon held in their honor. “You’re the best of the best.”

Criteria for the award, now in its 17th year, includes: outstanding Fredonia service attitude; creativity and resourcefulness in improving services; demonstrated team effort in everyday actions and positive attitude in dealing with students, faculty and staff.

“We have absolutely wonderful employees on this campus, as shown by the five award winners,” added Interim President Dennis Hefner, who attended the luncheon.

Award recipients included:

Sarah Laurie, a member of the professional staff and director of Environmental Health and Safety and Sustainability, who began her career at Fredonia in January 2007 as the regulatory affairs specialist. She is a resident of Dewittville.

Sara Jagoda, a janitor with Custodial Services, who began her career at Fredonia in August 2012 as a cleaner. She resides in Fredonia.

Natalio Matias, a highway equipment operator in professional trades, who began his career at Fredonia in 2007 as a cleaner with Custodial Services. He is a resident of Fredonia.

Leah Betts, from Secretarial/Clerical, is an Office Assistant 3 in Human Resources. She began her career at Fredonia in February 2005 as a Keyboard Specialist 1 and is a resident of Westfield.

Cheryl McCoy, of the Faculty Student Association (FSA) – Operational Services, is the head cook at Willy C’s, formerly Centre Pointe. She began her career at Fredonia in September 1999 as a part-time assistant service worker. She resides in Dunkirk.
