Westfield Memorial Hospital boards donate for workers’ meals

WESTFIELD — Board members for Westfield Memorial Hospital and the Westfield Memorial Hospital Foundation have donated to underwrite meals for employees working at the hospital during the COVID-19 crisis. They have partnered with The Parkview Restaurant, which is preparing and delivering the meals at a discounted price.

“The work that Westfield Memorial Hospital’s staff does has always been significant and important, but never more so than during these unprecedented times,” said Kathryn Bronstein, president of the WMH Foundation. “In the past, these employees have often banded together to help raise money for the foundation and now it is our turn to recognize them and their tireless work during the COVID-19 crisis by making their day just a little easier and brighter with these meals.”

A statement from the WMH board noted: “The Westfield Memorial Hospital board is so proud of our team of healthcare workers – from doctors and nurses to technicians and cleaning staff – who come to work every day during these challenging and uneasy times of the COVID-19 pandemic. They are putting their own personal fears aside to take care of both their patients and one another, and the members of the board are proud to contribute to this well-deserved gesture of recognition.”

The meals will be delivered today at 10 a.m. at the Emergency Department entrance of the hospital. Sixty meals will be delivered, which will cover all WMH employees for 24 hours.
