The Resource Center’s Dunkirk Dental Office will reopen today.

At the direction of New York state and the American Dental Association, the office closed in mid-March because of the pandemic. During the shutdown, staff have been making preparations in order to be able to operate safely once the practice reopens. Steps taken to ensure the safety of patients and staff include enhanced air filtration; placement of plastic barriers between each room; and development of a plan to sanitize all areas in each treatment room after every patient visit. Patients will be screened for COVID-19 upon entering the building.

Additionally, dental employees have undergone training on ADA and Centers of Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.

“Our patients are anxious to get back in,” said Lisa Smrekar, who manages the Dunkirk office as well as TRC’s dental office in Jamestown. “We have a fully committed schedule for our first week and the following week.”

The Dunkirk office, located at 186 Lake Shore Drive West, will operate from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The practice features Dr. John Vona and Dr. Paul Meyerhoff. New patients are being accepted. For people who are not able to come to the office for assessment and treatment, telehealth appointments will be available.
