Congratulations to the next Chamber President/CEO

Chamber Corner

We are pleased to welcome Daniel Heitzenrater as the next President/CEO of the Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce. Dan has served as Executive Assistant to the most recent three Chautauqua County Executives. He has been involved in several community service roles including serving as a Town of Ellicott Council Member, on the boards of Jamestown Community College and Cornell Cooperative Extension, and is past president of the Chautauqua Leadership Network.

In announcing the appointment this past week Chamber Board Chair Fred Johnson noted, “We are excited to bring Dan on the team as he has the skills, the motivation and is the right fit to lead the organization. Dan is both intimately acquainted with the details that make up the business environment of Chautauqua County and also with a strategic level County-wide perspective on the issues and opportunities facing us as we go forward.”

“I am excited to start a new chapter with the Chamber of Commerce,” said Daniel Heitzenrater, incoming chamber president. “I have enjoyed working with residents and businesses across Chautauqua County through my role in the County Executive’s Office, and I look forward to continuing that work countywide to advocate for the priorities of Chamber members and our communities.”

The chamber’s members and investors will be well-served by Dan’s experiences. Having interacted with Dan for the past several years, I am confident that he will be a strong representative of the business community, will work as a team player with our many partners and will bring with him new and innovative approaches to help businesses address their challenges and seize their opportunities.

The mission of the Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce is to create a business environment in the region where our members can thrive. The Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce is a privately funded business organization composed of 900 businesses representing approximately 24,000 employees. The Chamber is driving initiatives and providing services to help support and build stronger businesses and communities in Chautauqua County.

REASONS TO CELEBRATE THIS INDEPENDENCE DAY

Independence Day in Chautauqua County is looking more like the holiday we are accustomed to celebrating! As we hang our American Flags to celebrate this great nation this year we hope you will take a moment out of your picnic or barbecue to pay tribute to those who have made our celebrations possible. That includes not only our service men and women who give of themselves all the time to protect our countries freedoms, but also everyone who has worked so hard in the past year and a half to lead our country through a devastating pandemic that claimed more than 600,000 lives. Among the heroes we honor now are: doctors and nurses for their extraordinary work, grocery store and essential retail workers who put themselves at risk so that we could carry on, and educators who jumped through some crazy hoops to educate our children in most unusual circumstances. It is also imperative that we honor our scientific community and pharmacist who helped to create and deliver vaccines to get us back to normal, and all of those who chose to get vaccinated as soon as possible because they understood that without our health nothing else is possible. We pay tribute to all of you who have put others first in order to truly make our nation free from the bonds of a pandemic.

Vaccinations have played an enormous role in getting people back to family gatherings, back to social functions, and back to business. If you haven’t been vaccinated against the coronavirus yet we hope you will choose to do so out of respect for your fellow Americans, the safety of your family, and for all of our communities.

We also hope everyone will enjoy some of the local celebrations for America’s birthday this year including live music, fireworks, and more. There will be Fourth of July fireworks displays in Bemus Point, Dunkirk, Findley Lake, and Mayville this year, along with the traditional flare lights around Chautauqua Lake and the Cassadaga Lakes. For a full schedule of events check out the Chautauqua County Visitors Bureau online calendar at www.tourchautauqua.com.
