Westfield Memorial Hospital Foundation welcomes newest board member
Todd Crandall
WESTFIELD – The Westfield Memorial Hospital Foundation has announced its newest board member as Todd A. Crandall who was appointed at the Feb. 9 eeting.
Born at Westfield Memorial Hospital, Todd Crandall is a lifelong resident of nearby Portland and is a graduate of SUNY Fredonia, where he earned both his Bachelor and Master’s Degree in Education, along with a School District Leadership degree. He also has served for over 10 years as an Adjunct Professor in the Education Department at his alma mater, teaching state mandated courses for future teachers and/or support staff going into the field of education.
Crandall began his career as a Teacher/Coach at Chautauqua Lake Central School and rose to the ranks of superintendent of schools at Silver Creek Central School in 2015 to the present. He also served as Fredonia High School Principal from 2003 to 2015 after working as the Secondary Principal at Forestville Central School from 2001-2003.
With retirement nearing at the end of this school year, Crandall reached out to the WMH Foundation to see how he could help the community hospital that his immediate and extended family have all benefitted from for many generations.
Always willing to help those in need, Crandall previously served as First Aid Captain of the Portland Volunteer Fire Department. It was there where Crandall witnessed first-hand the professional and compassionate care provided by the hospital staff to our residents.
“Most notably of why the hospital is so important, several years ago the hospital Emergency Department (ED) provided lifesaving care, reviving my father, stabilizing him and arranging for transportation to a hospital in Erie, Pa. The local hospital is absolutely vital to our area by providing trauma care and life saving measures that if we didn’t have, may not allow individuals to survive,” said Crandall.
He went on to say: “It is my desire to give back to the local community and the hospital that has been so impactful to so many families over the years.”
WMHF Executive Director Patricia Gaughan DiPalma said she and members of the foundation Board of Directors welcome Crandall who joins Christine Adams, Kathryn Bronstein, Ph.D., Marilyn Hemmer, Daniel Hocking, Diana Holt, Jon Northrop, Shara Post, Dan Smith, Jordan Steves, Rose Van Volkenburg and Ralph Walton, M.D. on the Foundation Board.
