County Chamber grand opening August 31

Save the date now and watch for more details to come as the Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce plans a grand opening for our beautifully refurbished building at 300 North Main Street in Jamestown. This space serves as both our office in Jamestown and a downtown visitor information center. The building is owned by the Gebbie Foundation which has invested in a new façade and interior improvements in order to create a welcoming space for both tourists and local businesspeople and residents in the heart of downtown Jamestown. We are planning a ribbon cutting and open house from 5-7pm, Thursday, August 31. More details will be announced soon.

STILL PLENTY TO SEE AND DO IN CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY

As August begins, we collectively start to feel like summer is winding down in Chautauqua County, but that’s not necessarily the case. Some traditional and popular summer events are happening right now, including the Lucille Ball Comedy Festival, the Gerry Rodeo, and more. The Chautauqua Institution and Lily Dale Assembly summer seasons continue, and there are still festivals and events galore throughout the area to enjoy. Check out the Chautauqua County Visitors Bureau calendar online at www.tourchautauqua.com, where you can find something to see and do in almost every community almost every day of the week.

For the Chamber of Commerce, our list of events focused on the business community is cranking back up as autumn approaches. Jamestown Cruise-In is August 11. The annual Chamber Golf Tournament at Peak’n Peek is August 17. Our rescheduled Congressional Breakfast at Shorewood Country Club in Dunkirk is August 30. In September the Chamber offers Hops & Pops – a celebration of our local beverage producers that creates opportunities for both fun and networking – on the 15th at the Beaver Club in Fredonia. On the 21st we get back to our engaging Business After Hours networking with an event at Grace & Abe’s in Westfield – free for two representatives from each Chamber member business to attend, and just $10 for non-members. There’s much more to come as well! Watch our online calendar or sign up for Chamber emails at www.chqchamber.org.

NEW: FIVE CARD DRAW POKER AT THE CHAMBER GOLF TOURNAMENT

Come for the golf and enjoy more games too! New this year at the Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament: 5 Card Draw Poker. Golfers who choose to play along can enter for just $20. Five buckets will be placed at different locations throughout the course, and each participant will draw one card from each bucket when they get to the hole or location. The final draw will be at the end of the tournament, and when you draw your last card your poker hand will be turned in along with your golf scorecard. The best three poker hands will split a portion of the proceeds from the game. This is an added feature to our existing lineup of scramble golf, the optional skins game, and the optional Golfer’s Special super pack, which includes entries into the raffle prize drawings, 50/50, and other golf games on the course such as Ring of Fire and Play with the Pro.

Registration is open online and a few spots remain for the Chamber Golf Tournament, August 17 on the pro-level upper course at Peek’n Peak in Clymer. The registration fee includes golf fees and cart as well as lunch, snacks, beverages, and dinner for a price of $195 per player.
