SHERIDAN — Liberty Vineyards & Winery, of Sheridan, was recently honored with several awards in the 2025 New York Wine Classic Wine Competition.

“Attention to detail is very important here at Liberty — and it shows in the quality of our wines,” said Gary Burmaster, who owns the winery with his wife, Pam. “We put a lot of care into every step of our winemaking process — all the way from the vine to the bottle.”.

Liberty’s Quarter-Mile Red, a dry red blend, won best red blend in the competition as well as a gold medal and 95 points. It was also named ‘Best of the Year Winner for 2025 Top 2 Red Blend” by the Beverage Testing Institute. “Quarter-Mile Red is a really special dry red blend that we make entirely from grapes grown within a quarter mile of our winery,” explained Beth Margolis, Marketing Director.

Additionally, their Vidal Blanc Select wine was named Best Vidal and received a Gold medal and 90 points. “Vidal Blanc Select is a customer favorite. When making this wine, we stopped the fermentation process, leaving some of the grape’s sugars in the final product and creating a light, fruity wine,” explained Margolis.

Noiret, a dry red wine, also earned a Gold medal and 93 points, while Pinot Grigio, a dry white wine earned a Gold medal and 90 points. Diamond and Trillium, both semi-sweet white wines, won silver medals as did the Dry Riesling.

Liberty Vineyards is located at 2861 Route 20. The winery is open for tastings and sales Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visit www.libertywinery.com for more information.
