Independent Bookstores Day celebrates 13th anniversary

LAKEWOOD — Good Neighbor Bookstore is happy to announce our participation in the 13th Anniversary of Independent Bookstore Day!

“This is our eighth year celebrating as owners of Lakewood’s Indie Bookstore.” said owner, Bob Lingle, “We believe in promoting all things local and are excited to showcase that effort once again this year.”

Good Neighbor Bookstore is hosting local author TJ Buck, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Custom cookies will be supplied from Full Moon Rising Bakery. Exclusive items (signed books, and bookish items) will be available while supplies last. There will also be a cross-promotion effort between the bookstore and the Grand Opening of Button’s Toys and Treats (50 Chautauqua Ave.).

“This year is different as we are partnering with 25 other bookstores throughout Western New York for the Buffalo Bookstore Passport” Lingle said. “Participants can pick up a passport now and enter for a chance to win gift cards, swag, and more.”

Details on the Buffalo Bookstore Passport can be found at bflobookstores.com

Independent Bookstore Day (Indie Bookstore Day) was established in 2013 to promote, celebrate, and highlight the value of the Independent bookstore community. The day has been observed on the last Saturday of April every year since 2013. This year there are over 1,600 stores participating across the country.

Independent Bookstore Day is organized by the American Booksellers Association, a national not-for-profit trade organization, that works with booksellers and industry partners to ensure the success and profitability of independently owned book retailers, and to assist in expanding the community of the book.

Good Neighbor Bookstore, owned and operated by the Lingle Family, is located in the historic Village of Lakewood. With a focus on fostering empathy, we work on curating titles for the community that promote understanding, diversity, and creativity.

Starting at $3.50/week.
