Seven decades or 70 years.

That’s how long Jamestown Container Companies has been taking care of its customers – and one of the reasons why the company can brag about its longevity. CEO Joseph Palmeri, and President and CEO Bruce Janowsky also would say it’s a family-oriented business.

“We treat our employees, I think, damn good,” Palmeri said.

Jamestown Container was started in 1956 by Bruce’s father Glen Janowsky. The company is now celebrating its 70th anniversary.

“We’ve been pretty resilient,” Janowsky said.

Palmeri said the company started in Jamestown at one location, and now the company is headquartered in Falconer at 14 Deming Drive, has expanded to eight locations throughout the Great Lakes Region including Buffalo, Cattaraugus, Lyons, Rochester, and Cleveland.

“Right now you’ve got the first generation working with second as well as third generation at multiple locations. And even though the size has grown over the years, the feel – how it operates – has not changed at all,” Janowsky said.

Janowsky said Jamestown Container could be described as a corrugated cardboard business.

“But we’re actually in the design business, the printing business, and the packaging business,” Janowsky said.

Janowsky noted the company invests in itself, and draws on the expertise of outside advisers, and its own employees to evaluate new opportunities.

“And it’s not enough to just have Joe and I doing it. We need a lot of people, so it’s really kind of a group effort,” Janowsky said.

Palmieri said when he first started, there were about six employees. In 2026, there are 641 employees in eight facilities.

Palmeri also noted that customers expect great service from Jamestown Container. Big or small, “There’s not a customer we don’t consider important,” Palmeri said. “I think our sales management group feels the same way about it.”

Senior Account Manager Joe May said what makes the company unique in the marketplace is the capability of being able to supply what the customer needs as opposed to what the company has on the shelf.

“We go above and beyond to get the customer the most cost-effective packaging solution. We have the capability and the expertise to design exactly what the customer needs,” May said.

In March, New York State Assemblyman Andrew Molitor R-Westfield recently recognized Jamestown Container.

“For seven decades, Jamestown Container has demonstrated a strong commitment to quality manufacturing, innovation, and customer service, helping businesses across the region package and protect their products while strengthening the manufacturing economy of Western New York. I commend Jamestown Container Company as a family-owned and operated business that has remained rooted in our community, providing good-paying jobs and opportunities while continuing to invest in the future of manufacturing in our region,” Molitor said in a citation.

“As long as there are people making things, there is a place for us,” Janowsky said.
