South Dayton highlights crafts, events

SOUTH DAYTON — With spring comes a new adventure for the village. Three of the Downtown Girls have opened a craft boutique on Oak Street named The Backstreet Girls. Their mission is joining together to provide an opportunity for local craftspeople to display and sell their handcrafted items in a central location. The variety of crafts and Artisan goods along with the friendly atmosphere makes this venture a memorable experience.

The Shop is open Fridays 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. until the last Saturday before Christmas.

The Backstreet Girls are holding an Open House, Sunday, June 14 from 1 to 4 p.m. There will be a craft

class, drawings for a Zollinger’s Gift Card, a Backstreet Girls’ Gift Certificate, and refreshments. There is

off street parking and you always are greeted by one of the Girls.

The Downtown Girls are planning events also involving Pine Valley Central School. Last fall, the Downtown Girls, with the help of the South Dayton Volunteer Fire Department, spruced up the downtown section. Since the village flower is the daffodil, it is going to be painted throughout the downtown in strategic areas.

Also June 14, the South Dayton Volunteer Fire Department sponsors its Tractor Pull starting at noon.

The Farmers’ Market will be open as well as the Depot. When visiting the Depot, don’t leave without your

picture by the Robert Redford Ticket Window.

Starting at $3.50/week.
