Sales include welding location, former hardware store

A gas and welding building in the south county is under new ownership.

The Post-Journal and OBSERVER have been analyzing real estate sales in Chautauqua County and recently looked at the transactions from April 8-13. The county does not provide transaction information, but real estate documents are available for review at the clerk’s office.

During this time period, JWK Real Estate LLC sold 21 Clifton Ave., Jamestown to Airgas USA, LLC for $150,000.

That had been the location of Strate Welding Company. Strate Welding Company sold 21 Clifton Ave to JWK Real Estate in March, 2025.

According to Airgas USA’s website, it is an Air Liquide company and one of the largest suppliers of industrial, medical, and specialty gases, as well as welding equipment and safety products in the United States.

Before moving to Clifton Avenue, Airgas had a local address of 825 E. Second St., Jamestown.

In a separate sale, 110 West Main St., Sherman was sold to Taylormade Selections, LLC for $32,000.

This downtown building is currently vacant. At one time the building was the location of the Sherman Hardware store.

Also during this time, Pumpkintown, LLC of Jamestown sold 3435 Baker St., Busti to Luke Ames and Nicholas Madden for $227,000.

In an article published in The Post-Journal in April, it was announced that Luke Ames and Nick Madden, alongside their wives, Caylee Ames and Katie Madden, had officially taken ownership of Pumpkintown. Ames and Madden both own and operate Fire Guys Bounce Houses and Party Rentals, a party rental business they started in 2021, offering a wide range of products, including bounce houses, obstacle courses, water slides, interactive games, and a dunk tank. They also started Fire Guys Christmas Lights in 2022, installing professional-grade residential and commercial Christmas lights during the holiday season.

From April 8-13 there were two transactions that were $300,000 or higher. They are as follows:

– 335 Chestnut St., Fredonia sold for $370,000.

– 24 University Park, Fredonia sold for $315,000.
