Board to Meet
The Chautauqua County Agriculture and Farmland Protection Board meeting will be held on Friday, May 18 at 9 a.m. at the Frank W. Bratt Agricultural Center, 3542 Turner Road, Jamestown.

Reed staff to hold remote office hours in Dunkirk
Congressman Tom Reed’s staff will hold remote office hours in Dunkirk on Thursday, May 17, from 2:30-3:30 p.m. The meeting will be in the conference room at the Dunkirk City Hall, 342 Central Ave., Dunkirk. Staff will be available to answer questions, gather feedback, and provide assistance with medicare, social security, veterans’ benefits and other issues related to federal agencies.

Public Meeting for city of Dunkirk Pier & Waterfront Improvement Project
On Thursday, May 24, the city of Dunkirk Planning & Development Department will be hosting a public meeting and concept presentation for improvements to the city of Dunkirk pier and waterfront area. The meeting will take place in the Dunkirk High School Cafeteria and run from 6-7:30 p.m. Before the presentation, participants will have a chance to walk the space and view the proposed concepts and offer their feedback and ideas.
The Harborfront Pier and Plaza Improvement Project is made possible from a grant the city of Dunkirk received of up to $2.5 million from Empire State Development’s Smart Growth Community Fund, part of Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s Buffalo Billion II initiative. The $2.5 million will be used for two public improvement projects known as Dunkirk’s Pier Improvements Project and the Central Connections Project.
Memorial Day
plans underway
Preparations are under way for the annual Memorial Day parade in the city of Dunkirk. South Dayton Volunteer Fire Company’s annual Mother’s Day chicken barbecue
The South Dayton Volunteer Fire Company will hold its annual Mother’s Day Chiavetta’s chicken barbecue today beginning at 11:30 a.m. until sold out. The cost of the dinner is $10 and includes half chicken, sides and dessert. Dinner is held at the South Dayton Fire Co. Activities Hall, 34 Maple St. The public’s support is appreciated.
Forestville OES towel bingo set for May 18
Forestville Order of Eastern Star will hold towel bingo on Friday May 18, at 22 Main St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., Games begin at 7. There is a $5 charge for admission. Refreshments will be served.
