Placing flags at

cemeteries for Memorial Day

During the coming days, volunteers from several veteran organizations, JROTC cadets, scouts will be decorating Dunkirk cemeteries with American flags on the graves of all veterans. If any grave is overlooked, please stop by the Dunkirk Memorial American Legion Post 62, 211 Central Ave. after 3 p.m. to pick up a flag.

Murray Hose Company No. 4 plans Memorial Day Services for deceased members

Murray Hose Company No. 4 will hold Memorial Day Services for all deceased members on Sunday, May 27. Mass will be held at 9 a.m. with Mass at Blessed Mary Angela, St. Hyacinth’s site at 9 a.m. with breakfast and refreshments to follow at the Kosciuszko Club. All members are to assemble at the club parking lot at 8:45 a.m. to march to church.

Camp at Findley Open House set for May 26

The Camp at Findley is excited to host its inaugural open house. Join them on Saturday, May 26 and spend some time hiking one of the many trails located on 100 acres of woods or enjoy some time on the quiet waters of Findley Lake in one of the camp’s canoes or kayaks. A complimentary lunch will be provided.

Bring the whole family and experience what makes the Camp at Findley such a special place.

Post 59 Memorial Day activities slated

Post 59, 156 E Main Street, Fredonia, NY will be holding the following activities for Memorial Day 2018.

A breakfast for Veterans sponsored by Cub Scout Pack and Boy Scout Troop 267 at 9 a.m. at Post 59

Memorial Service at 10 a.m. at Post 59

10:30 a.m. services at the WCA Home,

11 a.m. Ceremonies at Fredonia Place,

11:30 a.m. Ceremonies at Monument in Barker Commons and then Service at Carl Loiocano’s Gravesite. One of the annual Memorial Day Ceremonies the members of Legion Post 59 hold is a ceremony at the gravesite of a deceased Past Post Commander. This year the service will be held at the gravesite of Carl Loiocano who was a Past Post and County Commander.

Cassadaga Library Walk Around the Lake set for May 26

The annual Cassadaga Library “Walk Around the Lake” will take place Saturday, May 26 at 10 a.m. Walkers should meet at the Cassadaga Library, 18 Maple Ave. The $5 ticket enters walkers into a prize drawing. Jobs Corps will offer a hot dog lunch for purchase following the walk. The event benefits the Cassadaga Library.

Rummage and bake sale at the Dewittville-Hartfield United Methodist Church today, Saturday

Dewittville-Hartfield United Methodist Church, Route 430 and Meadows Road in Dewittville will hold a rummage and bake sale, today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Merchandise includes fabric, clothes, household items and more. Purchase delicious homemade pies, cookies and more for your Memorial weekend picnic. The bake sale will be held both days.

Dunkirk Memorial American Legion Post 62 plans Memorial Day chicken barbecue

There will be a Memorial Day chicken barbecue on Monday, May 28 from noon until sold out at Dunkirk Memorial American Legion Post 62, 211 Central Ave., Dunkirk. Tickets are $10 pre-sale/$11 at the door. The meal includes chicken by “Weidners BBQ,” two sides, roll and butter. Dining options include eat-in or take-out. Pre-sale tickets are available at Post 62 or call John at 366-1074 or 680-2377. Live music from 3 to 6 p.m. will feature 2nd St. SUNSET. Raffles and a silent auction will also be available. All proceeds support Legion and Veterans programs.
