Intro to Pickleball

Would you like to learn to play America’s fastest growing sport? Join us on Thursday, Aug. 2 at 6 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club, 296 E. Lake Shore Drive (corner of Jerboa Street), Dunkirk.

No experience is necessary. Bring a good pair of sneakers. Equipment is provided. Reservations are required. Only 12 can be accepted. Call Ed Kirchmeyer at 432-6114.

Class of 1968 to kick off 50th reunion at pier

The Classes of 1968 from Cardinal Mindszenty and Dunkirk High Schools will kick off their 50th Class Reunion activities at the City of Dunkirk Music on the Pier this Thursday, Aug. 2 beginning at 5:30 p.m. Classmates and their guests can meet at the tent with the “Welcome Class of 1968” banner. Featured bands will play music from the ’60s and ’70s. There is no charge to attend. Food and beverages may be purchased from vendors on the pier.

Darwin R. Library upcoming programs

The Darwin R. Library, located at 7 Day St., Fredonia, has announced several programs for the coming week.

All children are welcome to these free events:

Thursday, Aug. 2 at 10:30 a.m.: “The Artmobile.” Art education and activities with friends from St. Bonaventure University .

Friday, Aug≥3 at 10:30 a.m.: “Princess Storytime.” Come meet some princesses! Dress as your favorite princess, knight in shining armor or ferocious beast!

Programs for adults include:

Monday, Aug. 6 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.: “Book Talk.” Join Chautauqua County Native, Dr. Rayna M. Gangi as she talks about her most recent book, “Humanity: An American Memoir.”
