Westfield Quilters’ Guild meeting Thursday

Spring is finally here! Time for new growth and beauty … and not just in our yards. Come see some of the beautiful quilted items made by guild members during “Show and Tell” at next Thursday’s monthly meeting. Join in at the YWCA in Westfield on Thursday, April 18; social time begins at 6 p.m. The meeting starts at 6:30. Everyone is welcome!

Forestville Fire District Board meeting set

The Forestville Fire District Board of Fire Commissioners will conduct its regular monthly meeting Thursday at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Forestville Fire Station, located at 18 Chestnut Street in Forestville.

Ripley Board of

Ed to meet

A regular meeting of the Board of Education of the Ripley Central School District will be held on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the IRLA Library (Room 204) of the Ripley Central School, for the purpose of any and all items that come before the board.

CCIDA to meet

There will be a meeting of the County of Chautauqua Industrial Development Agency (CCIDA) Board of Directors at the BWB Building, 2nd floor board room, 201 West Third St., Jamestown, on Tuesday, April 23 at 10 a.m.

Fredonia American Legion to host live music

On Saturday from 8 to 11 p.m., Joe and the Shmoes of Buffalo will be performing live at the Fredonia American Legion Post 59, 156 E. Main St., Fredonia. All members and guests are welcome at no cost.

Special meeting for the town board of Hanover

The Town of Hanover Supervisor has called a special meeting for Thursday, April 18 to be held at 10 a.m. at the Hanover Town Hall for the purpose of appointments to the Hanover Boat Launch and any other matters that may come before the board.

Newell Road to be closed next week

Jeff Feinen with the Sheridan Highway Department has announced that they will be doing a road closure next week for a pipe replacement for Newell Road near the intersection of Airport Road. Because of this, Newell Road will be closed for a few days during the week starting Monday. A detour will not be posted.

Westfield school

construction to begin

Westfield Academy and Central School will be starting work on the front entrance portion of the Capital Outlay Project. Work is anticipated to start Friday with substantial completion scheduled by April 26. All aspects of the work to be completed have been reviewed. The safety of all students and visitors is the utmost priority along with keeping disruption of the normal routine of the students to a minimum. During the April Break, there will be no access to the building via the Main Entrance. Access to the building will be limited to the entrance by the cafeteria. If a disruption to student routine is needed when school resumes, another notification will be sent out. All questions and concerns regarding access to the building can be addressed to Josh Brumagin, General Maintenance Mechanic, at jbrumagin@wacs2.wnyric.org.
