CASAC Prevention Works Chiavetta’s chicken barbecue set for Tuesday

A CASAC Prevention Works fund-raising event is scheduled for Tuesday, April 30. There will be a Chiavetta’s chicken barbecue from 3:30 to 6 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge, 321 E. Main St., Fredonia. Tickets are $11 each. Take-out or dine in options are available. The menu includes a barbecued chicken half, green beans, mashed potatoes and a dinner roll. There will also be a bake sale. To guarantee availability of the chicken barbecue dinners, purchase tickets pre-sale from a CASAC staff member or board member or call 366-4623. The event is sponsored by the Chautauqua Alcohol and Substance Abuse Council.

Library hosts Craft Show to raise funds

The Alexander Findley Community Library, will host its 11th craft show to support the programming and activities of the library. Proceeds from the sale of a homemade lunch (sloppy joes, potato salad, homemade desserts) and the “sale” of the tables to our vendors is used to support community activities, classes, inventory and events hosted by the library throughout the year. The kitchen is run by volunteers, board members and the library ambassadors group. Everyone is welcome to help. Those who love libraries or just want to support a fun event are encouraged to come out for this annual spring craft fair on Saturday, May 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Findley Lake Fire Hall, 10372 Main St., Findley Lake. The sale features all handmade items and many new vendors. Other attractions include a chance auction and 50/50.

Juneteenth Celebration Taste of the South

The Juneteenth Celebration Committee will be sponsoring the Annual Taste of the South on Friday, May 3, from 5 to 7 p.m., at St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church, 16 W. Fourth St., Dunkirk. The theme for the event is “Southern Down Home Bar-B-Que.”

The Annual Taste of the South is an all-you-can-eat Southern style African American down home buffet featuring bar-b-que ribs, shredded pork, bar-b-que chicken, green beans, macaroni and cheese, corn bread, sweet potato pie and many other dishes.

Tickets are $10 for adults $5 children 10 and under.

Chicken and biscuit

dinner to benefit Forestville Food Pantry set for Wednesday

A chicken and biscuit dinner to benefit Forestville Food Pantry will be held Wednesday, May 1 from 4 to 7 p.m., at the St. Rose of Lima Hall, 11 Center St., Forestville. The menu includes chicken over biscuits, salad, vegetable, apple/cranberry sauce and dessert. The cost is $12 per dinner. Clean-up of Dunkirk’s Bicentennial Park planned for Sunday

There will be a clean-up of Dunkirk’s Bicentennial Park on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. Volunteers are asked to meet in the park, which is located on Crooked Brook on Sixth Street, directly across from the Dunkirk High School’s main entrance. Work gloves will be available, or volunteers can bring their own. Call Skeeter Tower at 425-2663 for further information.

New Horizons Band to hold spring concert

The New Horizons Band of Western New York will be performing their spring concert on Tuesday, April 30 at 7:30 p.m. in SUNY Fredonia’s Harry A. King Concert Hall. This free concert will feature a variety of music. For more information, contact Karen Davis at 672-9100.
